Today while doing some work on our new house. This is what I saw out the front of our house.

We have just build a house in a new estate, just outside of suburbia. Not far away there are semi and rural properties and some nature reserves. One of those was on fire (Bushfire) today and the bomber choppers got their water from the lake in our estate which we look out on too. Approx 100m from my front door. I thought it was a pretty odd view. The lake, waterfountaine, childrens playground, families picknicking, kids playing and two choppers hovering 1m above the lake, taking on water.

Like I said not something you see everyday...

It Is A Eurocopter Squirrel Helicopter

The Squirrel's versatility is such that it is used world-wide in private, rescue, aeromedical and military roles. Queensland Rescue's Squirrels play a significant role in resupplying flood-isolated communities and fire bombing with an underslung "bambi" bucket

Cruise speed of 220 kph powered by a single jet engine
Range 185 km One stretcher position or three passengers
One neonatal humidicrib
Carries slung loads of up to 750kg
450 litre firebombing and chemical spraying capabilities
One person rescue hoist

2 weeks ago a man 3 houses down was run over and the care flight helicopter was hovering above my house before landing in the cemetary next door.
