Default Unknown engine problem??

hey guys ive had an ongoing problem for the past 9mths roughly where the coolant in the overflow tank dissapears on startup but when u give the car a bit of throttle it pops straight up again. then when u give it a bit more stick, it circulates in the overflow tank.

now this is what has been doen to the engine

1: head gasket bout 9 mths ago or less
2: new ford water pump was installed today
3: new gas converter bout 6mths ago
4: all new hoses and heater core bout 9 mths ago

now we initally thought it was a cavetating water pump, so that was changed today, but it failed to make a difference.

ive spoken to the guys at all heads and they suggested to cut the bottom spring off the thermostat to slow water flow, but that did nuthin. they also suggested that they could instal a bleed hose into the head but wernt sure if it would work either.

now the ea-el head gaskets as u all know go at about 80k, with ristricted water flow it will go sooner i suspect.

what do i do??

cheers brendan

This isn't true at all, there's no specific km mark that the head gasket will blow, my parents EA did 310,000km on the original gasket, and I know others have done the same.

Have you bled the coolant system of air? Are all the hoses flowing properly, especially the ones coming off the thermostat housing?

I'm not sure what the problem is, the coolant level will go up and down slightly as the system pressurises, and the thermostat opens, that's perfectly normal.

Also, does the thermostat have a 3mm hole drilled in the plate of it, as Ford recommends? This helps reduce heat shock on the head, and makes the water temperature rise slower.

The overflow tank has 2 small hoses going to it - one from the thermostat housing and one from the radiator header tank - check they are plugged into the correct orifices!
