hey i know that not many of you people like holden drivers.... and especially champsy.... but the whole rock throwing thing, blaming it on RCK is a bit harsh, i mean yeah maybe that was one member laying tyres on the road, but an average cruise with RCK has up to 300 cars. yeah some of them drive like dick heads but im sure that cruises you go on this is the case too. its a serious matter and i know that if ANYONE from RCK found out it was a member that there would be no hesitation to 'sort them out' to put it kindly. What im really trying to say is that RCK are there for the same reason as you they all love their cars and like to show them off we need to appreciate the clubs we are in and show respect to others also. RCK always put on a great cruise and if you know someone that is a member maybe come and check it out. some dudes do bring there fords also, they are also welcome.

Personally, when and where I was growing up, the people with taste, brains and driving skill drove Fords, the idiots who had no taste and were most likely to wrap themselves and their car around a tree or power pole drove Commodores. That was my experience, and even where I live now, I find most of the people who simply shouldn't be driving are behind the wheel of a Commodore (with P plates on, I can say that, I am am P plater myself), often forcing other drivers to take emergency action to avoid an accident. While I know it's a stereotype to say "they're all like that", if you see enough of them, it makes you wary of them all, it's perfectly logical in my opinion. I'm sure if myself and my little Mk II Escort went over to England, I'd be stereotyped in a simular way, because over there years ago, it was a popular car for "hoons" to drive.

if he posted in the relevant thread, people would have an idea what he is on about. It was a bit unfair for RCK to be labelled the culprits without something concrete (I mean evidence, not bricks).

In Orange / Bathurst the ratio of P Platers driving Commodores to Falcons would have to be at least 10:1, they are all mainly VS's or VT's.
The Fords you do see look pretty schmick, the holdens are just thrashed to all buggery with no pride in their car and most would have monster tacho's on the dash, clear tail lights and milo tin mufflers Last edited by xceler8shun; 10-03-2005 at 07:17 AM. |

In QLD, well, I've noticed more when in my Ute or in my old EA, that when a Commodore driver sees a Falcon driver, something twigs in their brain to make them think they're far superior than the Falcon driver, and does some stupid sh*t to try and prove that.
Right now, I am really lost for words in this incident down south. I got nothing. Just hope the cops catch the fuggers and lock 'em up.

Had one of those guys last night on the way home. P plated commo planted the foot around a corner in front of me, got it wayyyy too sideways, lost it and almost took me out with the front end of his car. Damn fool! Sad thing is this happens nearly everyday up my way. It's turning into a hazard just going to the supermarket because of these idiots. :

Guys,
Lets not make this a "Bash the Holden Drivers" thread. Although Fendass's post was a little cryptic and hard to understand what it referenced he made a very valid point. Quote:
It seems that there are oxygen wasters who drive every sort of car (yes, even Fords) and stereotyping by a car model is hardly an effective method of spotting them. There are quite a few Holden drivers on this site alone that disprove this. They are nice, friendly car enthusiests who love high performance cars. The fact that their wepon of choise is a General and not a Henry is of no great concern to me. So lets show we are, as a forum, above petty Holden bashing and show the respect that Fendass has spoken of.

I dont think anyone's Holden bashing just for the sake of it, i have no doubt these sort of threads exist in places like ls1.com.au etc etc too.

If this isnt a Holden bashing thread then I dont know what is. So far they have been generalised as bunch of car thrashing, POS driving, prideless nutcases who are likely to wrap themselves and their car around a tree or power pole. Not a bad word said for the many Ford, Honda, Merc, BMW, Toyota, Mitsubitishi etc drivers who, in the same way, are a menace on the roads as well. Maybe this thread should head less down the "I saw a Holden driver do this" and "All Holden drivers are that" and more down the "Lets get all the car enthusiests - especially Holden drivers who share many common ideals - and act as a responsible group to stamp out this sort of reckless and dangerous behaviour" Just food for thought

Casper, the thing is though, the majority of d*ckheads I see doing stupid things are Holden drivers. Not saying it's just Holden drivers, but I can recall one guy here in a Falcon doing stupid sh*t and there are plenty of ricers doing dumb sh*t too.

Well, all I can say is that I know a number of Holden drivers who are as passionate and responsible as any Ford owner. Putting all Holden drivers into a pre determined catagory of dangerous and irresponsible drivers is just being blind to the obvious. Chosse to do it if you must but I can say that there have been just as many Fords, Mercs, Toyotas and Nissans who have almost wiped me out as there have been Holdens. Turning this into a Holden bashing thread is a waste of time and detrimental to all car enthusiests. I'd rather turn it into a Scrubby bashing thread... he's th real enemy here.

I don't think I've been asleep for the last 6 mths but after reading this thread and the one refered to - It has not been publicly released that it is a White Commodore!!! All the news broadcasts I'VE seen (and heard) say that the police are hunting a small white car (MAKE UNKNOWN)
Just playing the devil's advocate here Paul B XR6WGN

I agree totally Casper.
I've seen stacks of stupid commy drivers in my time, but to tar *ALL* holden drivers with that brush is stooping to the level of "all modified car drivers are hoons" that we see coming from scruby and his mates. I know plenty of holden owners that are as passionate and dedicated to building tough cars and using them where they should as we are. I know a few Ford owners that have no idea why its a bad move to do burnouts in crowded carparks too. Focus on the person driving the car, not what they choose to drive. |

I have no problems with holdens or the majority of holden drivers, most of the idiots that i encounter on the roads have actually been ford drivers its sad to say, and most of them are Falcon AU/BA drivers.

I agree with many opinions from above. Over the years I have seen so many stupid things dont in cars, probably 80% of which was carried out in a holden and 15% in ricers (this is growing). I cant help but stereo type holden drivers because of this, and unfortunately in most cases these people keep proving me right. I also know some holden enthusiasts who take great pride in there cars and are ****ed off by the other idiots driving their insurance costs up and generally giving them a bad name.
Lately though I am seeing more and more poorly modified falcons (usually e-series) and 4 bangers doing stupid crap as well. It wouldnt surprise me if this was a result of younger people getting their first cars who are influenced by certain popular movies and fords racing success.

to put it simply, it's just the same as chosing sides at a rugby match. it's all about LOYALTY. we dump on Holden owners (especially commodore owners) because they are they arch-rival of Ford and the Falcon. If you don't realise this you've got some screws loose. The lights are on but nobody's home - you get what I'm saying?
Havign said that though, I have nothing against Holden owners, many of my friends have them. But I still give them a hard time and they do the same to me. Don't disrupt the status quo.

here in victoria holdens/commodores make up the magority of crashed vechiels well over 50% and that is just one make out of many.....that right there has to say something....i am not implying in any way that all holden/commodore drives should have there license revoked i am only stating a fact(believe me, dont believe me i dont really care...)i know holden drivers that are brilliant drivers and respect other drivers and i know ford drivers that shouldnt be let onto the roads and have no respect for other road users(i saw a brand new mk2 ba xr8 ute do a u-turn into a ricebox yesturday)...
what im saying is every make of car has ****ers driving its products its just that holden/commodore stands out from the rest....... and no i dont hate holden i have driven holdens many of times out of my own free will and i dont hate holden drivers proberly about 80% of my friends are holden drivers afew are shit boxes the rest i admire as my friends take pride in them and dont thrash them(too much)...

I don't know where to start... there will always be the rivalry betwewen fords and holdens, some of us just take it to far. I have several friends who are GM drivers, there is the occasional one who is a bit of a ****er, but i have met a few ford drivers who are just as bad if not worse.
Earlier today i was speaking to the driver of a GM, we give each other a bit about the cars we drive, but that's all it is... only skin deep. She has her car damaged three times, anyone (generally a ford driver) just looking and seeing the rear quarter panel a bit beat up would think that it was their fault, however if you take the time to talk to the person, you see that not everything is what it seems. Went on after that just to talk about the car in general, things that she didn't like about it... ie the repair job was not the best, other problems, smaller things aswell. The point is a car is something personal, wether it's a 120Y or the newest BAGT/Senator, the owner of that car cares for it (unless it's just a paddock basher ). |

up until tonight ive only been witness/victim to acts of stupidity on commodore drivers parts, but on the way to get dinner through a 50 zone, an a silver au xr ute came up behind me at about 100 and looked about 10cm from the bumper in the rear vision mirror. he (or she, i couldnt tell) then put his hazard lights on and started flashing me with the highbeams, so i thought maybe something was wrong with the back of the car like a light or something, so i slowed down and moved to the left (its an empty road) to see if hell come up beside me and say something, but instead, he pulls out and flies past, taking off into the distance with the hazard lights still going and i could see that he was still flashing his highbeams cos the trees were lighting up every now and then. now, wtf was that all about?
