So, a decent AUIII XR6 VCT (Auto or Manual) are around the $16 - 18k mark.
The ST's are holding their value really well... above $20k.

Dealers are still asking $21000 +. I am not paying that much. Seems to be some good deals still around. If that AU in Cowes was moonson Blue I'd check it out. :

Thanks LG, the last one (Monsoon Blue) is in Perth.Dual fuel too! Iam looking for an auto. Just checked out carsales.com.au, must keep an eye on that site. I have been checking mainly the dealers (warranties) as I don't want someone elses problem but I might have to look at private and get an RACV check.

Might be worth considering if you find a nice AU2 XR6 VCT coz it would be almost identical apart from the ST which would be my personal pick of all the AU XR6 models I reckon you could find yourself an ST for low 20s maybe even high teens at a dealer and get them to throw you in a Ford solutions 3 year extended warranty Good luck with your search |

I'm sitting here laughing to myself about how the tide has turned. 3 years ago the VCT was an orphan no one wanted and wass considered the "grandpa's XR6". Just amuses me to see how much it is now the "preferred" option in a lot of cases.

Making them stronger?
Because I'm now a manual, I know I will eventually get a crack in my firewall. In say 100,000 - 150,000 kms. But if the AUII/III were re-inforced, maybe it solves this problem? Thanks Casper.

No, not a strength thing, a sound thing. Better interior sound reduction.

Oh ok, cool.
Well I guess i'll find out. As I've only heard of AUI manual owners with the problem so far.

They came with a very nice body kit (IMO)especially the rear bumper wich has a mesh insert plus 18 inch wheels a black leather interior and I think also sunroof as standard and in limited colors I wish I had waited a little longer and got one as is often the case the last of any model run are the best for quality and value |
