Hey guys, just thought i would show you what i did to my radiator header tank, i painted it about a month ago and it came up really well its just the std powerplus paint. And i also decided to make a bigger intake pipe its 4inch pipe and i also painted that too. The header tank tho every1 with an au will know they do look unsightly and can do with some paint. i also left a little stripe on the side so i can still see the coolant level.

Blackers10 ...I gather he put a strip of tape down the side ot the coolant tank before painting it , then remove the tape after done , so you have a nice clear line that you can see the coolant level through.
And yep your right most paint shops can put any colour in a pressure pack can for you , is how i did the inner of my discs with galaxy blue ;) . cheers.

Xr6-vct exactly right i did put tape on it and then removed it before clearing, i put it out of sight tho its between the tank and the abs module so you cant see it unless you look. plus the coolant sensor will pick up low coolant anyways and the light will come on. i usually just wipe over it all with meguires mist quick detail and armourall the hoses and blacks. comes up good everytime.

Thanks for the tip mate! The tank in my car is cracked, so I just got a 'new' one from the wreckers, so I'll give it a coat before I do the swap. I had one without a sensor sitting around as well, so I had a practice run on it, it came up a million bucks! I taped the factory min/max window so the coolant level can still be seen, looks alright, I might put a black rim around it to neaten it up though. You can see in the pics how much difference $6 can make ($3 per can from supercheap, one silver one clear)! Will look good when I get my new rocker cover on. I was almost ready to buy an aluminium one too from PWR, so you've saved me at least 300 bucks I reckon. Cheers, Matt.
ps. If anyone wants to buy the one in the photos (no sensor), drop me a PM, I'm done with it. |
