Default Spray paint apprenticship

Hi all
I have been attending tafe doing a pre-apprenticship for spray painting and was loving it .
Now I have been out doing work experience and have found that I am been treated like crap and been told fibs to get me to work at these places only for things to change once there (3 times now).
I have had no misconceptions when it comes to apprenticships I know I would be doing alot of crap work but honestly didn't expect what I have been putting up with .
If anyone out there knows or is wanting a apprentice to teach how to do things proberly for exchange for a wage and a very good hard worker in Perth or outside of Perth Please post .
OR if you are or have been a apprentice in this field please post as I would like to know weather its me or the trade .

Dont do anything rash. Look elsewhere, but in the meantime keep at it. Youre moving in the right direction, better to be employed and looking to move up, than looking while on the Dole. At least youre learning something, even if not as much as youd like.

In my Panelbeating Apprenticship I washed cars cleaned floors and emptied bins for 6 friggen months before being allowed to work on cars, but you also get to see and understand the good and bad tradies. Apprenticships are really just legal slave labour kinda like McDonalds $190.00 per week take home for 1st year : . But it does get better and once you get better and more skilled and hopefully good at what you do people will come to you and offer you jobs. Some shops are crap nothing you can do about that, Best thing I can suggest is go to the shops that have good reputations and pester them for a trial period with the prospect of an apprenticship.

Having said all that I was in the trade 10 years and would not recommend to anyone going into the motor vehicle repair industry, It has some serious problems mostly due to the fact that insurance companies dictate the hourly repair rate, and its bloody expensive to set up if you want to go it alone, There is one exception and that is custom work where if you are very very good with a reputation for perfection you can earn$$$.

If I had my time again I would do one of the big three
Electrician
Plumber
Builder

Greater freedom to move around if you want to travel, own your own business and again if you willing to work, big $$$ and more dollars means more cars and quicker ones.

And your LUNGS will thank you.

Move to Central Queensland (Gladstone / Rockhampton) - we're screaming for all kinds of apprentices up here!!
Mainly for the fact that the mines keeping "stealing" (and by stealing I mean offering $120,000 a year for one week on week off - only work 6 months out of the year) all the tradies and apprentices...

There is some really good opportunities, my brother just picked up an auto electrician apprenticeship with Hastings Deering (CAT Dealer) and loves it and has work coming out of his ring hole! If you don't mind the move, have a look here!!

Do not do anything rash, there must be a governing body for apprentices, ring and talk to some one and air your grievances. They are sure to give you the right advice and sort the problem out.
