Default stamp duty..

I was just wondering if my dad gives me a car worth 10k but i dont pay for it but i want to transfer it to my name do i still have to pay stamp duty??

I would say no, just a transfer fee.

You pay stamp duty on the amount which you list as the fair value/market vale/purchase price on the Transfer Form.

So unless you put down $0 (which they will question) then you pay stamp duty.

Im pretty sure depending on where you are you can transfer between family members without stmp duty.

i have and it doesnt say much, it just has a stamp duty calculator.
