Hey guy's bought my first falcon today, gonna scmick it up a bit(rims, susp, brakes, zorst). Wondering what people think of my buy.... good/bad/avg??
Got a 95 EF Futura Auto, with A/C, cruise, premium sound(6 stacker), spoiler, gun metal in colour(not sure of the ford name for it), towbar(never fitted) and the thing that made me buy it, 2 owners with 130,000klms with service-book. Paid $3500 with 8 mths rego tyres at 70%. Any good or could've done better? Any opinions welcomed, will get pics up prob tomoz. Cheers Luke |

That's very good.
Gun metal grey is the ford name for it. Great colour. Bring on the pics. (wash it first) |

Sounds like an excellent purchase... I have noticed recently that cars for sale in Melbourne, are usually more expensive than everywhere else in Austraila.
An EF like you have just bought for $3500, would be at least $6000 here, going by what I have noticed watching the markets... Good luck with your Falcon, enjoy it EDIT - No wonder why I see a lot of NSW and QLD registed cars in car yards... quick profit...

I see a lot of cheaper vehicles in QLD and NSW. At times I think it is because they know I like some of them. Maybe if I move to another state, I can force the prices down here. |

Ive had my EF for a while, been in the family since before I could drive. So in my case the value of them is kinda depressing. lol. but still a great car better than many others that sell for more than twice as much.

Yeah thanks fella's backed up what I already thought, after driving it for a bit today. Brought it straight home(80klms and didnt miss a beat, fuel gauge didnt move), dropped the oil(as I like to with a newly bought car, smooth as, no grit), changed, plugs, leads, oil(Castrol GTX3(anyone else recommend a better oil?)), all filters(oil, fuel, air), coolant, tranny oil and diff oil. On order are a set of slotted rotors and kevlar pads, hoping to have timing belt/chain(???) done by weeks end(mechanic job :nutsycuck ).
Now this car isnt as fast as my last one(99 TH Magna Sports Manual, Extractors, 2.5" zorst, full whiteline kit, 16" rims, pod filter). But damn its quiter, smoother, cheaper to maintain and modify. And with all stock setup(the EF), handles better and stops better. Quote:
Should have decent pics tomorrow night. : and cost $10k less(and $25 cheaper a mth to insure)!!!!!! Aussie built, Aussie Owned, Aussie Designed kicks butt!!! Next plans, are gonna be to add a tranny cooler, springs, shocks and rims. Not fussed on high performance. And hopefully in time for the Wagga All Ford Day! Cheers lads. Good news for you then, the timing chain doesn't need to be changed, although if you are having a mechanic look at it get him to check the tensioner. Car sounds good.
