you seriously expected ANY leeway in a revenue raising device in victoria? ROFL....... seriously dude, if they dont respect the australian design rule 10% inaccuracy allowance with speedo's, you seriously think you'd get one measly second at a set of lights?

Am I reading that right, you have one second to go through an AMBER light in SA? In Qld it only flashes on red, never if its amber, but no leeway.
I assume Im reading that wrong. Yes, there will be demerits Id say, and a hefty fine. They will send the fine to your registered address regardless of state. |

The light only goes off if you cross on the red. Not amber. Eventhough Amber means stop!

I'll bet money it was actually a speed camera that got you and not a red light camera. We have them in Vic set up to nab you if you run the red or speed up and run the amber speeding.

If you 'think' of running a red or amber here, you will be nabbed, even if you stopped in time! Its the thought that counts! Doesnt matter what state your car is regoed, still 3 points and lots of $$$$. And yes, if you beat the red light camera, they are also set up as speed cameras. They can get you twice in one go.

^ it's the thought that counts hey? lol
Yeah in SA the cameras work pretty well, if you cross the line at any time after the light is red, you'll get nabbed. I see at least 2 per day (lol usually at the same intersection as well) and they always look 'fair'. I wouldnt have been punching the red at that stage anyways.

Were you speeding? In SA all red light cameras are perminant speed cameras 24/7. If the light was orange maybe you or someone else near you was speeding. My gfriend got a $500 fine, 80km/h through a red light. Should have called it in stolen so you wouldnt get a fine :

I have sat and watched one of these things when I was in Melbourne (don't ask why) and there is only a split second between the light going red and you getting nabbed. It also flashes twice if you have been done for speeding and running the red.

Someone should actually time the orange lights on intersections, ones with red light cameras seem to be orange for less time. All orange lights should be timed and be the same everywhere.

Red light cam is 3 points and $215 in Vic. If you scored a dual cam, ie red and speed, you can also expect one for speeding if you were over the limit.

It's a half second delay as soon as it turns red in SA, not a whole single second.

Take it to court and clog the system..with litigation it will change and given the time it takes for your case to come up you will have time to save.
