Motortrend scooped some pics of the new 2008 Lancer:
More pics here: http://www.motortrend.com/features/a.../photo_03.html Article: http://www.motortrend.com/features/a...subishi_lancer Appears to be fairly faithful to the original Evo X concept - however judging by the trim, bodykit etc, this is probably the VRX version. Thoughts? (excluding the "but its a 4 cylinder" thoughts) |

I reckon that'll be my mrs next car. Lancers are a bloody good thing I reckon (not ricer ones though). The EVO will be hot if that's anything to go by.

Well the EVO boys are gonna love this. Their EVO is just going to be a hotted up Lancer where it once wasn't.
With the comming of the GSR to compete with the WRX, they will probably be based on the same chassis too. And to think of the EVO fanboys who put crap on the STi : |

Did Mitsubishi really design that? It is nice on the eye, and has a non Mitsubishi, almost quality look about it, which the Lancer had never had. I am impressed.

That car looks good now, in 2006. But by 2008 it will look dated IMO.

My dad was thinking of buying a Lancer, until he found out the back seat doesn't fold down. Ended up buying Yaris sedan.

Hopefully the new lancer will have the dynamics to match the best of its rivals. Rear lights look a little bit "Lexus IS250"

A EVO is completely based off a Lancer. And who cares, a EVO/STI is as much a sports car than any HSV/FPV. Subaru boys are probably sick of the EVO being a touch better thats all. Lancer looks good, I remember some EVO pics a while back, a yellow one, and it looked tough!

Looks nice... the 4 doors always do.
What's happening with the two door? Still using the same 10 year old shape?

Looks very nice to me apart from the "moon buggy" look suspension, needs to be dropped, would look sweet then.
What is it with these new cars these days, so many of them with the guards way too high over the wheels.......yuk!!.......the new Commodore is one of the worst culprits of this, looks just plain silly. |

Well when you think about it - the STI, and even the clubsport and GT have the baseline interiors with better seats etc. But Mitsubishi just didnt add a 4wd system and raise the price $23,000 on a Lancer VRX - the chassis has extra strengthening welds etc. |

What I was saying is that the later EVOs ala 8 and 9 bear no similarity to the base Lancer equivalent. That 2008 Lancer pictured there looks carbon copy of the EVO X, hence the comment of EVOs losing their uniqueness so to speak. The Subaru boys are happy with their STi and accept it, but we constantly have trolls that stir up shit, much the same as here. It's just a PITA when trolls constantly feel the need to point out something we already know. In fact about 90% of them would tell you the EVO is a touch better. Even I know it's better. Most would buy one if all they wanted was all out balls. In a recent flame war we had, most of the Subaru boys defended it even myself even though I personally don't like them. Personally the way both Subaru and Mitsubishi are going with design, I will be keeping my 03 longer. |
