Anyone fitted a larger reservoir for washer fluid in their AU1. Damn thing is tiny, my other "car" is Pajero and holds about 6 litres, lucky my wife drives the Paj cos it takes about 3 litres per week, she would use the AU's waher fluid in one day

I was always wondering about this one as well, the AU resivoir (which from i can tell is the same as the EF/EL one) is a joke compared to other cars.
Its a bit of pain when you do a lot of country driving and have a pretty crummy resivoir. I might do a bit of research myself into this one and see what could be a decent replacement.

Every time i fill up at the servo I do the washer fluid ... I go through mine ... although i have been using mine a little more wisely.
adding detergent to it makes it work much better ... and not holding the washers on for so long works fine too. So think about it as water restrictions ... LOL ... it lasts a little longer. Oh ... amke sure your wiper blades are in top condition ... this makes the water in the reservoir last a lot longer too. Some good pointers I guess. Also washing the window when sitting in traffic seems to clean better than when on the move as well. Safer too.

which detergent do you reccomend adding mechan1k??
just that some of the ones at the shops seem to sound like theyd strip the paint right off your car if you use it too much or mix it wrong??

I only use a very small amount ... putting in too much makes it froth up way too much.
I usually use a small squirt of window cleaning agent (one that has some ammonia in it). But as mentioned only a very small amount ... the movement of the vehicle mixes it in well in the reservoir.

Windex is fine ... I also add this anti algae solutuion as well (if i remember to) ... can get it from pet store for fishtanks ... this prevents algae forming in the reservoir and clogging it.
Never had a clogging issue in the AU ... but did have an issue with the Territory though .... but have resolved it now.

Be wary of using it if there's ants in the reservoir, I've heard the little buggers can get into the tubing and clog it up.

Ok, I'm weird. I might refill mine once every 4 months..maybe. I rarely if ever use it. (admittedly, I cant remember the last time I drove the car in the rain.) :P

really??
The AU one is HUUUUUGGEEE compared to my old 1980 corolla. A 1.25L coke bottle would have been bigger than the corolla's.

I barley use it, would rather just wash the wholecar... I cant stand the look of a semi-clean car where windscreen washers have been used. just ruins it !!!
Mind you my car is garaged day and night, and only does 50kms drving per day.

Why not just keep 4l container in the boot filled with water. When the resevoir runs out, just fill it up from the bottle.
