EDIT: Title change, car not stolen...phew!
My wife just called to say the car is gone!!! She's gone back into the airport to find out what to do! If any of you happen to see it in the Melbourne area (or anywhere else), please report it! The plate is TAW 878, winter white BA (Aug 2004) Futura wagon, tinted windows, rear towbar (ball not attached), and cargo barrier. It has our kids 3 car seats in it too! PIGS !
Hopefully you will have some success with Airport Management and the Cops. All of the open spaces at Tulla are recorded on CCTV, hopefully the thief will be identified and hung from a tree by the balls. Good Luck.

Being at an airport there would be some very good security. Get in contact with management and see if there is any survallance footage of the carpark in oarticular your car.
BTW Who the hell steals a car from an airport. It would have to have some drop kick with no rocks in their head.

Checking now to see if car has been towed...no reason it should have been though...but hopefully it has!
Smartlock! Well that was one of the first thing I said...how could they start the thing? Yes it was locked...always hit it twice for the horn confirmation. |

Without sounding like a *****, is she sure she is looking in the right spot? Only reason I ask is that a BA Wagon (with baby seats) is an odd car to be stolen. Especially from an airport with security.
Towed is another possibility? Hope the car comes home soon! |

Similar incident happened to a firend, the car would have passed directly in front of the camera....
He was declined the ability to even see his car being stolen on screen... why??? PRIVACY LAWS of course...... Dont know what happened in the end however... What a joke... i wonder if they will say the same thing this time... |

This sounds like she's forgotten where she parked it... Go back there at 3 am when there won't be as many cars and have a drive around... And don forget to notify the police when you find it if you had listed it as stolen with them!

I can't think of any law that would proclude anyone viewing footage of a public space. Footage can be held by the owner but it is only to satisfy himself, not the law.

GTP006, it's insane I know but there has been similar instances of criminals getting away with it due to privacy laws. God knows I think it's absolutely ludicrous; right up there with a thief injuring himself whilst breaking into your home and suing, but it seems laws are only now to protect the perpetrators and not the victims. Hopefully you get the car back untouched; could have been stolen by someone needing the parts after an accident, or some low life ****er who wants to make his EA look like a BA.

Wow, I bet you could have just piddled with relief! I know I nearly did. Smartshield would have kept her safe.
By the way, may I comment on how stunning that car looks in those photos, I would get mine exactly the same. |

My Dad does that all the time. Wasn't as bad when his ute was bright yellow, but now it's white, he refuses to park in car parks.
Bet your wife is feeling a little silly right now, but at least thats better than having actually had it taken!

I've had it happen a few times. Worst case is when you can't find your falcon, to realise after searching frantically that you were driving a focus. :
Good result. Glad to hear it was an oversight :hihi: |

Just had to go feed our 9 month old...who thankfully still has a car seat!
I'm now having a well deserved beer, or 2, or...while I wait for her to get home and laugh, er, console her... Actually, she is usually the one I rely on to find the car in big car parks... Quote:

How was the thief supposed to get the car out of the carpark without a car park ticket?
- Drive a crap car in that they stole and pick out another to also steal (...) - Drive through in another car and say that they lost the ticket? Also, lol at your missus for "losing" the car. AND lol at you for posting on the forum about it before you even confirmed it stolen. I love the internet. |

Nah, good on you for posting it up. If it was stolen you would have had people keeping an eye out early and if not, you gave us all a laugh. It's win/win.

Unfortunately it happens alot, people look in the wrong spot, they assume the car is stolen and then panic.
A lot of cars are found in the spot they are left!

Yeah I often try to park the car in the row inline with the elevators. It gives a good point of reference. That's not always possible though. Glad it was ok. Talk about skipping heartbeats! LOL! GK
