Thinking of building my own 6x4 metre shed : :
Thinking of putting a roller door on the end as well as mid-way up one side. What i am looking for is any plans/suggestions that you guys may have to help me. I could get it approved through work for cyclone ratings etc. (oh yeah, i am a boilermaker) but just want some plans anyone may have so i can start pricing it up. Now before ya start ... yes the draftsman could knock up some designs for me but i bet the boss would want a fair whack for it, also we are always flatout so it wouldn't get done for ages, Also, yes i do have a good idea on designing my own but i am used to buiding sheds that are 100 M long and may use beams 510 high etc. so downsizing to a simple 6x4 is not as easy as it seems. Anyway, throw anything helpful at me and i might get a start on something i have been planning for ages. Thanks, Heath

Will it be big enough?...I've got a three bay I thought would be big enough..guess what I need at least another two bays. That includes height should of gone 4mtr high instead of the standard.
Anyway think about what you think you need and add half again. Will post pic if you want.

I've only got a cretain area in my back yard to fit the shed in. I don't think i would be storing a vehical in there but that could always happen. I may be able to stretch the dimensions of it to 7x4.5 M but the council probably won't like it being up against the fence. I already have a garden shed that has been passed through council so i'm thinking of just extending the slab and building a bigger version. If their paper work says there is a shed there then they will be happy...i don't think they will be checking the dimensions. No sewage in that area of block.

plans could be put through the 'right people' at work so it's not so much of a problem. Just cost money and at the moment i'm skeeming

for around $220 i could get council approval to put the shed up against the fence line. I think u normally need it 1.5M off it.
I had to do this last year to get my pool built close to fence

You may have to get permission from the neighbours also as part of the permit, I know of someone down here who bought a shed but the neighbours changed their mind and didnt want it, so council disallowed it.
You could try the Stratco website for ideas http://www.stratco.com.au/ , they have diagrams of the structure you may be able to go off that, or even buy a ready-made shed from someone like them or get a second handy out of the trading post etc |

I would just buy a kit. My uncle sells them as kits so you can put them up yourself or charges for labour to put them up.
The kits are a piece of **** to put up. |

gday
I just finished(2 months ago) building my (shedco) kit 6x9m 3 bay shed,it was fairly straight forward, however I wouldnt buy a kit shed again,as you can go to your local metroll or sheet/roofing suply company buy or your material for a lot less than the kit.(The fixing supplied in some kits are weak and Ive had to fit extra bracings and stronger brackets) And over engineer it to suit your needs,Having said that it not as simple get council approval but not hard.My council wanted Details on material specification and a plan which Im sure you could knock up. Oh and yeh make it as big as you can because my shed has 1 small project car and work benches and Im now wishing I couldve streched it to 7x12m.What ever you do fit 1 or 2 whirly birds to it to cool it down ,it gets very hot down there. And dont forget to budget for a good size beer fridge! :voldar02: :voldar02: |
