Talking England Wins Tri-Series!

Well NZ let us down but no doubt this will bring a smile to a few faces!

Good on the poms, what a way to comeback from the Ashes flogging. Australia now losing 3 ODIs in a row.

Man of the series must go to Collingwood.

Poor show by the Australian batsmen. They need to drop Gilchrist lower in the order for the next few games in NZ.

well we can't win everything. and besides, the 5-zip floggin in the ashes series will be long remebered after the ODI series is forgotten.

Gotta give them 10 points for finally playing like they had 'a pair' and are in fact the best english cricketers and not giving up...

bring on the world cup...

cheers Chris

This is crap. England wins by rain default? give me a break. How can you call that a win? Sure they were playing better, but to me the game isnt over till its over. Plus the duckworth lewis system is flawed. They take off a tonne of overs from the england side, take stuff all from the runs!!! How is that fair? How can you hang head high winning it this way?

I agree but I dont think Gilly is going to NZ is he? Im not sure but I thought Ponting and someone else were going to be rested during that tour...

I think Ponting should be ashamed of himself for today's performance, and Hayden and Gilchrist have roles to play in it too... they just made it so much harder for the middle order tonight, and they are the blokes who are supposed to set it up...

Good on the Poms though, and while Im sad to see the Aussies lose something they were supposed to win, I am gracious in defeat and wish the Poms well and at least that shocking English media will get off their backs. No one deserves that. LOL.

Credit to the Poms for sticking at it for so long through the bad, bad times. And credit to the Pommy supporters too, for not fading away when things got horrible.

We will move on, and we will win again. It may just make us stronger.

Also, I would like to mention Hodge - he tried hard in this game and he will make a good cricketer for Australia in time. I think he was the new Bevan in a way tonight, but he just didnt have a chance really. It is a shame he only got 49.

Interesting times...

I disagree, there was NO way we were going to win either way, so it was not by default. We would have been bowled out anyway, and the D/L system was already applied before the rain stopped play in any case. I think the D/L system is fair enough and it has been good for us on a few occasions as well.

The Poms sure didnt win by default this time... they won the last game, and they would have won this one without a doubt...

Edit: yes, agreed with above, Collingwood deserves man of the series.

While in heinz sight you might be right Jac, it still isnt what I call a 'WIN'. Just a rule that gives the advantage to the side that is leading at the time. Who knows what could have happened? But hey stops the poms from whinging.

Hehe yeah, thats for sure. And it also put us out of our misery too I think...

If we had at least one high order batsman in place when it was rained out, then we may have had a chance and "who knows?" but given that it was tail enders left, and not that many wickets left, then I reckon we had a 90% chance of losing, if not more. Top batsmen struggle to score at 10 runs an over for more than a few overs, let alone bunnies...

In my opinion, it was all over when we lost our 3rd wicket.

well it was the most emotional game I had watched this series, other than that, it did get boring. Finally the poms can go home with something over than their tails between their legs. The biggest blow for australia all series for me was roy's injury. Not looking good for prospects in the world cup. I hope Im wrong.

Day 5 of the Adelaide Test gets it for me, as far as emotion goes, for this season.

Roy's injury seems to have unbalanced the team and sent them into a spin!

World Cup is a new ballgame, and it will all be good then! Start of a new era really with a whole lot of new young players making names for themselves. Bring it on.

Cricket is NEVER boring...

that's good in a way. It allows us to try a new opener and #3. Gillchrist has the talent but he has just lost the plot lately as an opener.

Interesting times...
Agree with that. I like Hodge and I can see in his play that he is really trying. At 32 and the Vic Captain he certianly has experience. He seems to have gts too. His approach is sensible - play himself into his confidence then open up.

Who will captain with Ponting and Gilly out?
Answered: Hussey captain, Clarke VC
