Default VB & Carlton Draught....

: : :

Two blokes are currently having an arguement at work, one reckons VB & Carlton Draught comes from the same barrel the other reackons hes gone with the rabbits cause ones a bitter & the others a draught.

Were are a bit bored so its just a light hearted muck around, but if some one could clarify it would be great!

Cheers

Wrong... VB (BITTER) Crownie (LAGER)...
Think you're getting mixed up with Foster's & Crownies.. The urban myth goes along the lines that the Crown Lager comes off the top of Fosters brew

VB is a bitter, Carlton Draught is a Lager.

They are different beers. They cannot come from the save vat.

Most CUB beer is garbage anyway.
Their Invalid Stout isn't bad though.

Smaller Aussie breweries are far better. They don't fill their drinks with chemicals, and they actually care about the beer they make, not the money they make.

Carlton draught is a lager, only when it comes out of a tap it is a draught, otherwise, lager all the way...
BTW: only amber ale is good, other beers are crap. jim beam or wild turkey FTMFW!

CUB products are the Toyota of the beer world. Fairly basic product, but with a brilliant marketing department. People that drink the stuff actually think that it is superior beer. People that drive Toyota's actually think they are driving the pinnacle of automotive engineering.

A bitter is a lager, as opposed to ales. I prefer coopers pale ale.

VB is a lager.
Cascade Pale Ale is a lager

Both of these beer are fermented with a bottom fermenting lager yeast and have names suggesting that they are ales.

Technically speaking, all Beers are only either an Ale or a Lager........ depends on the yeast !

I think they're both crap (VB & CD that is).

Commercial beer of choice would have to be James Squire IPA, or Burragorang Bock from the George IV micro-brewery in Picton NSW.

One interesting point though is that the yeast cake (sediment) from the base of the fermenting vats at CUB are actually sold to Kraft to make Vegemite.

Y'all must be tripping!

VB, despite its name, aint no bitter (or ale if you prefer). She's a lager! And an atrocious lager at that. Lines are a little blurred in the mass manufacturing approach adopted by CUB but its a bottom fermenting yeast.

Coopers ales all the way!!! Great australian beer from a dedicated australian company.

Hey , could someone please point out the difference to lager, bitter and anything else that associates with the word beer? I just thought it's all beer.

Pretty much ales and lagers.

Lager: bottom fermenting yeast, stored for some time ("lagered") usually in cool conditions. Usually a clean and crisp beer... think VB...

Ale: top fermentation, ferments a lot quicker than lager. Usually pretty sweet, very full bodied with interesting flavours (think Coopers as the prime example!!)

Of course many different kinds of beer under that, denoting the different ingredients used to ferment, different types of water etc. i.e. Stout is an ale type, pilsner is a lager type. But they the two main types...

All the myths surrounding Fosters Larger and Crown Larger are a load of crap. Anyone who knows beer can taste the difference between a locally brewed Fosters and a Crown in an instant.

The other one that makes me laugh is Fosters you buy overseas is Crown re-badged to make Fosters taste better. Anyone who knows beer knows that Fosters Larger anywhere else in the world (other than Australia) is brewed by Scottish and Newcastle! In fact, they not only brew it, but own the rights to the Fosters brand worldwide (except Australia)... You can thank John Elliott for selling out in the 80's for that.

On VB and Carlton draught..... Absolutely different vats.
