Now I know there is a YouTube section, but this is different.
Yesterday I did the Ian Luff stage 2 course for the 3rd time in my XR6T. I didnt get any incar video but dad also did the course in our SS so we got to film each other. The first clip is of me. Im quite happy with the sideways action on the big circle. On the timed events the good old XR6T out-did everything. S13, S15, R33, SS ute, XR8 ute, Cleo Sport, all conquered by the mighty Falcon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh85K8VEYkg This clip is of dad in the VX. He’s 56 and its his first time doing this sort of stuff. He’s not a hoon at all so I’d been revving him up to drop the clutch and let what little hair he has, down. Also, the one of the instructors takes our SS for a “spin” so show us how not to do the exercises. Quite entertaining!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VvgtDNe9f8 These advanced driving courses are fantastic and you learn so much in the day. And what you learn could save your life!!

Would have been good to see you in the SS, looks like you can drive, especially that slalom, great lines and speed! Is it a sound problem or was the XR6T bogging until you gave it decent revs (cloverleaf)? My auto seemed very smooth. Love the choices. I have owned both those cars (in red/auto). Quite different and similar.
The instructors way looks heaps more fun, but from what I heard of the times they were much slower? |

Thanks for that.
Always liked watching your vids on youtube and am planning on completing AT LEAST Stage 1 by the end of the school holidays. One question I do have, on Stage 2, do they take the FWDs on the same big circle skidpan as the RWDs? Seems a bit futile really....steer,accelerate, back off, brake (if necessary), steer, accelerate, back off, brake....

that instructor gave that SS a hiding in the slalom lol
Is it not quicker to do a flick spin at the end before coming back? i noticed u took a wide berth in the XR6T

With the cloverleaf, the camera has trouble picking up sounds that are a long distance away, so it sounds like im off the throttle, but im not. The run that the instructor did was about 3 sec slower than his tidy lap. But it looks good!!
I was happy with my consistency. My times for the cloverleaf were: 34.07 34.26 (+0.19) My slalom times were: 26.70 (Practise run) 26.52 26.63 (+0.11) They said with the slalom, a mid 26 is as quick as you can go in just about any car. In the 2nd run the instructor said to me, "right, im not going to tell you what to do, you just do it, and it'll pick it to bits afterwards". And that’s when I did the 26.52 :P He did the same with the cloverleaf. Had a great time but!!

Good stuff Aeron. I reckon courses like these should be part of driving tests, how many people would not have a clue about what a car does in such a situation if it occurs. Goes to show that the throttle can a great form of car control in a slide situation
We did a skid pan day a couple of weeks ago, I gave the missus XT a thrash but when I get myself another ute of decent grunt I'll be doing these days again for sure. Probably one of the best days out you can have ina car |

I must have blown all of the cobwebs out of the motor because it feels to go much harder than it did before. Looks like a day of thrashing has done it some good!
