Default Engine cut out - Engine System Fault

my motor cut out, the engine warning light came on and a message saying 'ENGINE SYSTEM ERROR' or words to that effect was displayed. It happened as I was reversing up the street about 50-100 meters. It was difficult to start after that but eventually turned over ok. Was weird. Anything like this ever happened to others or knows what it could be?

Might be different from the Fiesta and Focus, but my Fiesta had the engine cut out - with the warning light at a roundabout. Had trouble starting it up, but was good after the 2-3rd attempt. The engine cut out again at a sidestreet when I was reversing.

When it happened the first time I had it taken to Ford to get the ECU reflashed.

Have you done a search on the forums for that error message ?. If not read my post here http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=94926 . Touch wood this problem has now been fixed with a new throttle sensor body.

Honestly, the focus is a really easy car to fix when it comes to engine faults.

Ford plugs in their computer into the car, and they know what the problem is and they change the part.

Its like that with most cars these days, but newer cars have better technology to pin-point the problem.
