Had around 60 people over, DJ, jellypool with girls wrestling(was no need for strippers lol), lots of drinking, lots of 'bday suprises' you could say, couple of visits from the police.
Lots of hoons leaving there mark when it ended..

Was a great night from what I remember.. the jellypool was the best fun though.

I've been trying to remember what I done or what party I had. Then I read your post and it clicked. I pretty much did nothing. Just lunch at parents and dinner with the gf.

You are right in saying that there is no significance in turning 21 in this country, IMO its an American thing.

I have always wondered what was the significance of a 21st birthday. Maybe it is just associated with the coming of legal age in America? I don't know though. I was going to go on a holiday to Vegas but what was the point if i wasn't legal age. Sucks to be them :P I bought a car instead!

Had a big party at my parents house, party hard with friend and family but all the work mate didn't show : but not a bad night with heaps of cool present. A week later i bought myself a TL50 as a birthday present. Don't regret it. :

My 21st was on Easter Monday last year, and I had a BBQ on the day, including a lot of beers. Had a heap of friends and relatives there, so it was a great day. I didn't have a big party. The smaller event was good enough for me!

It used to be the age of becoming an Adult , 21 meant you got to Vote , going to the Pub & full adult wages . Not 18 as it is now...

What a Question ? ? ? ? mine was sooooooooooo : long ago , I think ! ! ! mum put on a party . Remember I bought a TD XLE Cortina a few weeks before ....so that'll give you an Idea how long ago it was .

At least I can claim Alzheimers , mmmmm , I meet NEW people every day. :nutsycuck .

Just found this :-

AGE AND THE VOTE

‘Adult’ mostly meant people aged 21 and over for the first 130 years of voting in Australia. Military service was the exception. In World War I, some States granted members of the armed services the vote. In World War II, the Commonwealth and some States did the same.

Military service may have had some impact on lowering the voting age from 21 to 18 years in the early 1970s. At the time, Australian men under 21 were being conscripted for military service in Vietnam. In 1966, the Commonwealth had lowered the voting age to 18 for members of the services in Vietnam and Malaysia. The stronger impulse for the general age lowering, however, was a recognition that by 18 people were mature enough to vote. The change was uncontroversial when first made by the Western Australian Parliament in 1970. The Commonwealth followed in 1973, as did the remaining States between 1971 and 1973. Since 1983, 17 year olds have been able to enrol; however, they cannot vote until they turn 18

That's why 18th's are the Big one these days & up to the early '70's ,21st's were the Big one.

Hope this helps .......from "Legal Information Access Centre "

Every year, my birthday is a couple of days before Summernats, so that's usually what I do.

Can't think of any other way, of celebrating my birthday, then doing something I love.
