And the photo

They look great IMO - much better than the chrome.

Beam pattern will still be as crap as ever ... like I found.
Standard AU headlights are much better in illumination of the road.
One reason why i got rid of my old Altezza headlights.

I think it is a better option to just get your light bezels painted black. Or just go all out and do the XR conversion. They on eBay for about $700

I am running them and agree with mechanics comments about the lighting performance.
Mine are chrome background.

See my gallery for photos or the workshop build.

Thanks for all the advice, guess it comes down to looks or performance, reason I like them is they are about as close to the Xr Ba headlights as an AU would get, I guess the only way to get over the feeling is try em, if I dont like the lights, the originals will always be close by, I also planned on putting a small set of driving lights in the lower bumper, maybe this would offset the performance?.
This next comment will cop a lot of flack, I know, but, I do not want to go the AU XR front for two reason's, 1: I don't want a clone of an XR. 2: to be honest, I am not overfussed on the AU XR front, each to his own I guess.

yeah i agree.. i think my forte front looks just as good if not better than an XR front. I hate the stupid crease bonnet they have.

Nah no flak from me thats a fair comment. I like my fake tickford grille and dual round lights and I did it to please me. my taste not be for everyone but so be it. I don't mind XR6 fronts but money no object I would have put a fairlane front on my wagon TL50 style.

Oh by the way the small driving lights is a good idea. i tried it though and they were too low to do any good so went back to just using clear side indicators as position lights only.

Not to mention the adjustment issues.............
Another issue I've found with this "style" of headlight is fitting them in the bin, I have to actually CRUSH them to do it
I've had a few come through lately where owners actually want to revert back to the original or to XR, they are (IMO) the turtle neck jumper of headlights.

Yes you have to like the turtle neck style to put up with the poor beam pattern crappy adusters etc all fair comments.

I still like them on my AU anyway.

I am sucked in to the style over substance I know but in the city mostly so the lights don't have to be so good anyway.

Hey Guys,
I was actually running the 'Black' Altezzas in my DRAGN6 [before hitting Roo] and absolutely love the aesthetics of them. I would like to point out though, that in running this style light, you DO lose some of your 'Beam Quality'. The brightness is not as good as that of the standard headlights sadly, BUT still very good either way.

Let us know how you go once/if you choose to purchase them, be keen to see another AU with the Black Altezzas.
I do also know a friend was planning to fit the standards back into his AU and if you haven't already made your purchase, can find out if he still has them if you like??

oops just replied to an older post

Off the top of my head, if I remember right, there is a small adjustment screw located in between the two beams on the back of the lights. Just use a small flat screw driver and screw any direction until you see the headlight move, then you will know which way you are required to turn the screw to lift light up/down.

I will see if my 'Broken' [roo damaged] light still has the adjuster and take a photo of it for you, If not, then I can try to get a video of the Altezza, that I still have fitted into my Dragn6 ;)

Hope I can be of some assistance ;)

I personally prefer the original stuff, only because the Altezza rear lights on the wrong color can make the car look real cheap and plastic.

I do like the front lights, would be cool if they can be color matched to the car, make it look factory. but otherwise i prefer the XR or standard AU lights

Totally agreed and your idea about colour coding would be sweet to see.

My Dragn6 is Congo Green and I chose to use the Black Altezzas all round [Front/Back] and personally, think it looks awesome with the Blacks. Have seen a few with Chrome Altezza Tails and just MHO, but they look horrid on the Green cars lol << Chrome/Clear that is

I'll get back to you on that one in the morning mate, but if correct, I think that one was over near the indicator ;) somewhere there ;)

I'll double check my one in the morning

Damn nice AU

Are you familiar with the adjustments?
Trying to help Debonez with the final adjustment, but haven't had the chance to look at my 1 good headlight yet lol

Been meaning to ask too, but is it just me or are the parkers a pain in the A$$ for others with Altezza Head Lights??

Hey DRAGN6, thanks for the comment

Sorry I'm not sure about the adjustment, mine were fine for low and high beam so haven't needed to touch them. I've replaced the odd bulb here and there.

Someone was also commenting on rear... I only like dark rears on dark cars, the rest look cheap imo. Here's mine:

can I be honest and just say that it looks better with the Altezzas mate

Absolutely gorgeous and those wheels really set it off

Had similar wheels on my dragn6, but recently let them go with my old BA Fairlane since Dragn6 hit roo and I decided to leave her off the road for up to 3yrs to do a restore and more mods

Swapped the Fairlane for an S2 AU XR6

really nice job on your AU my friend LOVE it, curious though, standard height?

I had a look at them and it looks like there are some adjustment screws near the indicators like you said, thanks for that DRAGN6. They are however inaccessible while attached to the car :( its going to be interesting adjusting the horizontal position of the headlight without it being on the car lol. Awell I will give it a go sometime soon, thanks again!
