I actually thought he had already quit ages ago. Yep he was a damn good swimmer with 3 olympics under his belt but its going to get all hypo!

Australians in general have poor attitudes towards those who actually achieve - this is a case in point.

Ian Thorpe has gone down in history as our best swimmer. Full stop. He's been great for the sport of swimming - he's not a drug cheat - he doesnt have any other scandal linked to him like many famous athletes do - I reckon he deserves accolades and not the personal attacks thats all.

from what i know is he's lost motivation and some other things....what he should of done was take a holiday and think about it with australia behind him but oh well guess no one cares about anything anymore

HGH is starting to have it's ill effects on his body, many athletes give up sport as soon as the adverse effects of years of taking PED's starts to show.

And before you have a go at me about this 'tall poppy sh1te' I know a guy that used to be a personal trainer at the AIS, almost all the athletes are on it at some point. It's easy to disguise in younger athletes as it is naturally present in teenage bodies, a slightly elevated result does not always raise alarm bells here as it does in people that have gone through puberty.

If you need proof, look at his overly large features, jaw structure and feet to start with, both good indications, but because done at an early age difficult to prove it wasn't a natural hormone boost during puberty.
