Just installed a turbo engine in my 1992 excel and was wondering if anyone knew of a way to eliminate the Air Flow meter, What would the wiring be like. Or should i keep it installed, or is there a differnet Flow Meter that would work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
can I eliminate the maf sensor and retain the stock ecu? Will post pic's soon. It's one of a kind, and has a wide body kit installed. : Adrian |

I'm not trying to be harsh, but this is actually a Ford Forum, escpecially as this is your first post.
maybe try a 4cyl forum as they may have better advice for this.

Agree, this is a ford forum where people don't all that often turbo charge their cars, its more about V8's, 6 cylinder factory turbo's and superchargers.
Try a 4 cylinder forum, check to see if you can find a Hyundai forum too. Finally, if you post pics of a wide body kitted turbo excel you are likely to cop all sorts of crap about rice. Also, judging by your other post with pro jap car rubbish even though yours is Korean will not endear you to any other member. Take your trolling elsewhere because you will not be staying here for long if you keep this crap up.

Aftermarket ECU! AFAIK that is all you can do.
Yet you say you have Jap running gear and run a stock ECU. You can see how it comes across don't you. |

I can see why he would ask this sort of question here, there are a lot of very helpful, knowlegable people floating around on these forums. And in general, an ECU is an ECU.
LTD: Go to the E series forum, it's almost to the point of NA cars being the minority. |

like its been said already, aftermarket ECU is the go, microtech or similar,... or an even better idea sell the excel and put the money towards a turbo kit for the EA,... I work for a Ford and Hyundai dealer, and i know old falcons are the greatest built vehicles going round, but pre 2000 ish hyudais are woeful....

There was a killer turbo excel a while ago cant remember if it ran a turbo excel motor or a mitsu 4g63 but it ran low 11s and was the biggest sleeper.
They are very light cars so thats a big advantage, what turbo motor did you put into the car? Why do you want to get rid of the AFM? Most people start doing that around 250-300rwkw (youll need to upgrade to a Z32 AFM around the 200 mark. Easiest option is a Plu n play PowerFC, but like i said, it depends on your motor. |

Seriously though dude, you might be able to get better info off the Evo forums. If its a 4cyl turbo and it's Mitsubishi, they will know what you need.

So why posting in the pub where knowledgeable (spelling) people are and not the E series forum you espouse? And by the way, I was merely making a suggestion to someone whom on their second post rubbished fords. If that's the calibre of post you desire then fine, but I'm not going to watch another potential troll rubbish the theme of this forum, and denigrate the very vehicles which most members here own and are passionate about.

well it is very hard to find an excel without rice, as they are rather sh!t I have basically replaced most of the original hyundai stuff on myexcel with better quality gear for ff it aint too bad, independent rear, front and rear sway bars, lowered front and raised back and some rice to top it off and make it look like anty other excel,.. I want it to be a good sleeper
