Instead of buying and building this amazing product, I think Ill just go and buy one of those engine enhancement products that make the pPFFFFFSSSHHH sound even though my 351 xd doesnt have a turbo ! :

Maybe I've missed something or have been sucked in (or both) but...

I think the idea of an electric supercharger is a great concept! Instead of having the belt sap power from the engine, have an electric motor attached to the gear drive and have it rev in sync with the motor's revs (maybe with an electronic dizzy pack or something like this)...

Can anyone highlight what I'm missing here? I see that the ebay listing is suited to small motors, but what if one was made for an engine of 4, 5, or 6 litres capacity?

Do the CFM calcs, your goind to need something a bit bigger than the fans these e-bay scientists guys are suggesting even for for a Granny-Pak mazda.To shift serious air, you need a serious fan which draws serious current, which puts serious drain on an alternator, so that belt sapping drag of a conventional blower may no be so bad.
This e-bay garbage is the mechanical equivalent of putting a footie sock in your air intake. More Drag!

I actually wondered why no-one had ever made an electric "assisatance" to increase the pressure on the plenum while the car was stopped or going slowly.
I did the maths and then stopped wondering....

EDIT (hahaha I read it AGAIN... 3rd time now): I see that it's for a fan that blows air into a compressor... why not bypass the fan altogether?



What I was getting at was (for "theory" behind an electric supercharger):

1) Getting a supercharger like a Vortech V2 or something similar (instead of a fan!).
2) Modify it so that instead of a belt drive powering it, it has its own motor turning the shaft.
3) Get it working somehow (dicking around with a 2nd battery + bigarse alternator?)

Or am I still missing the whole point? :

Yes but it is not compatible with monster amp car audio, or the simultanious operation of wipers and headlights.

As I pulled up at the traffic light grand prix I knew he was serious when I heard the unmistakeable beat of his 12HP I/C engine over the whine of the supercharger.....

Other examples:

my car actually reaches 1892kg/h, and takes 12 light years to reach top speed over 400m. Does someone have the conversing figures so I can figure out my 1/4 mile time and speed?
