It'll settle for a few mins then whammo same again.

Tried replacing the mouse? It's probably stuffed.

Is the mouse USB or PS/2

Mice are around $10, try a known working mouse (make sure you restart poota if using PS/2) and see if its the mouse giving you grief. If its still doing it with the new mouse, you may need to delete and reinstall the USB drivers.

Still no luck? Virus.

LOL before doing any of this, if its optical (red light underneath, not ball), clean the underside. Damp cotton tip should do it.

A dirty ball mouse won't go spastic, it'll just cause the ball to lock and free.

1 more thing, if its optical, it can't work on clear or shiny surfaces.

I had a lot of trouble with my mouse freezing ans scrren going spastic and I had to download the correct drivers for the video display. Look up "my computer" to find out what video card you have and search for the drivers in Google and go form there.

Ok, the display way going spastic, and leaving mouse trails and than it would just freeze.

I don't think its your display drivers, but the keyboard driver or it seems someone has swapped some keys around....

Which is an absolute ****er!

We used to do it with the library computer in high school, endless hours of fun.

This sounds like a virus to me, no way a mouse is the cause of all that.

lol thats understandable. lol. but thats a completely different thing compared to whats happening here. with yours your driver was screwing up the display, it was leaving mouse trails (lol) all over the monitor due to lag.....with this one his mouse is going hay wire and his keyboard keys do different things..

Clean your mouse movement system Ie laser ball optical whatever....for the keyboard it may have gone into some sort of mode......like sticky keys..... but its definately not normal. try re-installing your OS. not a complete re- install just a "upgrade install" which leaves all your files intact but will reset any settings to do with your system. i had to do one last night cause stupid Disk check deleted some god damn system files for no reason. and they deleted msconfig dumb microsoft.

which reminds me......try running msconfig in "run", go to the last tab and uncheck everything. then restart when asked to after accepting and closing that window. anything that shouldnt be running when the computer is turned on will stay off unless you change it..

Also i dont think it would be a driver problem (unless you have a multimedia keyboard and mouse) cause they are just plug and play units.

I will go out on a limb here and agree with the display suggestion........
My mouse would cause the 'puter to freeze and have similar symptoms as described whenever I tried to move it or click buttons.
Wound up being that my vid card was buggered.

Go with the driver suggestion and then try swapping for another vid card if the driver update doesn't cure it.
