I think we will need to do 2 this year. 1 in Melb, 1 in Syd.
Given last years turnout (suprisingly big) and this years interest its worth the effort. What I would like to do is do them on different days though, possibly even 6 months apart so those who can have the option of going to both.

Unfortunately I wont be able to get to the Sydney one (family, work and kids make that all but impossible) however if someone is willing to put up their hand to co-ordinate it (not a small job) please let me know.

Finally, in regards to timing, I was thinking of the Sydney one first (maybe March?) and then waiting until August or Sept for the Melbourne one. How does that sound?

Well put it this way, if there is enough call for it, I will do one up here. I wont do it any later than July though because it would be too close to AFD. Can be a weekend or a day only, Im not fussed, I can also arrange good rates for accom, cruise routes etc - all the usualy stuff.

I'm thinking of magazine coverage. Doing both in the same month means one will probably miss out.

there are some nice areas in Sydney, one place that comes to mind is Lane Cove National Park, just accross from where i work there is a rather large carpark type affair which we could probably monopolise if we get their early enough. but entrance to the park is $7 per car.

im just thinking that its too Late in the Year , Aug/Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec are all events months , The Beginning of the year is Free for most of us , Im not saying Everyone is free but i personally would think it could be better to have it in the Beginning of the year , alternitavly , let the sydneysiders do theirs later on in the year

well, thats what this thread is all about. trying to work it all out so the minimum of people are disadvantaged and the majority are happy.
I think 2 BBQ's this year is the go. 1 will be in Melb for sure, the other is really a toss up between Syd, ACT or Wagga.
As for dates, nothing is locked in one way or another however I do not want them together on the same day as some people may want to come to both. Either way no one from ACT/NSW has raised their hand (with the exception of b2tf in Wagga) to organise it yet so we will all have to wait and see I think.
As I said, always open to suggestions.

Lake Kurwongbah!

Plenty of parking; free entry; bbqs galore; 2kms from my place.

I trust that is convenient for everyone else?

Awesome stuff Whoosh! Haha

Cheers

I'm tempted to organise one for Sydney, but I've got no idea what's involved (talk of public liability insurance scares me for one).

Unless we can organise a day ... at say ... Wakefield Park ... and have a BBQ day there ... and maybe track day incorporated ... then again ... it will cost people ... but the more people, the cheaper it will become.

I still think Canberra is a good place though ... there's plenty of larger parking areas around the Lake in many places that have BBQ facilities ... amenities are good ... and it's not that busy a place either.

Thats not a bad idea! Goulburn is reasonably well located and a track day would be heaps of fun. Just full of cops though. Really full of cops.

I dont mind where. I am 300kms from melbourne, so driving in the opposite direction to canberra would not bother me.

Just after March 1st if possible :
