Default What AUs had Factory Pod Filters?

I thought it was just the T series, but a spare parts guy at a Ford dealer I visited today said some XR8s had them too.

I thought all XRs came with flat panels?

Pursuit 250s and the T Series have factory pod filters. On the BAs XR8s got factory pod filters aswell as FPV.

To be exact, all the 5.6 AU's.. that's the 250 XR8 Pursuit, T3 TE50, T3 TS50 and T3 TL50 had factory pod's in an enclosed airbox. So no.. not all T-Series and definitely no 200kw or 220kw XR8's had them.

Ever tried ordering a new pod?
the BA one is around $60
the AU one is around $800
The BA unit has a frontal air intake as opposed to side intake and the mounting lugs are different but for my money I think I would retro fit the lower casing of the BA

How feasible is it to retro-fit the BA airbox and pod into an AU?

go look over a BA in the car yard you will se that the mounting at bottom on to inner guard is with a crude bracket from ford anyway. the prices were just for lower casing. you would be up for clip and top section which also houses MAF (AU top)

just a pod filter is illegal aye? is it true that it must be in a box? or you can be yellowed?

Just that a mate of mine with a Sunbeam GTRicecook... i mean Nissan Skyline GTR had his exposed pod filter marked down as a no no when the cops took it over the pits??he pi$$ed it off to conform and then put it back on again

True, exposed pods are a no no. Enclosed pods work better anyway, you don't want a HAI.

Can the AU MAF screw straight on to the BA airbox cover?

pretty sure it can. A lot have done it, the only one I can think of with a lot of pics though is Falkeen's old ute. It had the BA setup.

When we took the airbox out of dads ba xr8 it has a small entry from the front where my pursuit 250 has the intlet in the guard on the side of the box & looks heaps biiger than the ba entry.

Still doesn't make up for the difference in price tho...

not so sure about it being illegal in WA, my girlfriend has a lancer, we put an aftermarket steering wheel and a pod filter on it, took it to DPI in Perth to get a permit and they said you don't need a permit anymore, this was about 12 months ago tho....the pod isn't in a box either, just hanging off the intake pipe with a bracket

You do in QLD, whether the boys in blue and DOT enforce them heavily is a different matter and normally determined by the attitude test.
