Default What happens when whell nuts aren't tight?

For that answer have a look at the attached photos (phone camera, crap quality) The photos below were not long after all 5 wheel nuts were sheered of at approximately 80Kmh. Thankfully the bottom of the shock sat straight down on the inside of the rim and kept it sort of in place. Even when getting pulled onto the tow truck and off again the wheel did not come away from the body. A BIG thanks goes out to JC for helping replace the wheel studs today.

Tharwa drive near Calwell/Theodore. It's all fixed now, and turned out to be a cheap lesson for both me and Zhodak! One more lesson also learnt was, don't trust scissor jacks and make sure you put on sun screen when working in the sun. Both arms, face and legs sutained some red colourig

Damn, thats scary. Just went through something similar but pulled up with only 2 wheelstuds gone. I guess I was lucky.

Yep, he certainly was lucky - there's an underpass near where it happened, with a reasonable sized drop-off through the guard rail, just lucky he stopped when it went "bang".

Ride height is around 645 mm from ground to guard lip - looks good, and the ride seems to be OK.

It happened yesterday - car was towed to his house last evening, and we fixed it today.

hehe,this inspired some AU bashing thoughts but i'll leave it.. :hihi:

i've had a whell come off round a corner,very scary/noisy stuff, tyre shop got a very big blasting over that one.
