Computer Audio Question

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if there is any software around to suit my needs. What I need is to be able to use the output audio of my computer to be directly used as input. So, pretty much, reverting sound from the output jack to be interpreted as input sound without any actual hardware in the input jack. Sorry if this is confusing but it's kinda hard to explain, if anyone could help me out here that would be great.

have u onboard sound card or sound card on ur computer.

I'm pretty sure you can't change an input to an output or vice-versa.

It's an on board sound card.

Go buy a pci sound card which has line in on it.. Most onboard soundcards only have mic in and line out..

You want to use the audio output from what (your computer?) and input it into what?

Are you trying to record your computer audio? Or are you trying to take audio from something else and input it to your computer?

What I would like to do is , while using VOIP, play sounds directly to the recipient (off my computer) without having to hold the microphone up to the speakers. Sorry I was a little unclear in my first post.

you can buy a USB headphone/mic and XP gives you the option to use the s/c as a secondary device. IE: speakers Ring as an incoming call. but when you answer the headphones take over. and yet you can play music thru the speakers whilst talking on VOIP.

I have no idea if this helps you.

And I am lead to believe that Most on-board sound is software enabled and has Jack sensing so you can turn the so called Sub/centre output into Line In or something kike that.

Nup - not gonna happen. I went through the same thing a while ago when I changed some of the sound files in one of my online games.
Unless the person on the other end actually has the sound you are playing on their computer they ain't gonna hear it.

I'll keep thinking on it, but your chances are not good!

use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm plug into line out and line in viola
output is input its magic

you want to play the sound on the computer and not out of the speakers...??? i know even im confused now

anyways im sure what you want cant be done and technically making your output your input, it was never output to begin with so why not just record the input before it gets to output and not have to input your output ...lol

Go to windows volume control

Unmute line in/mic

Options > properties
Hit the recording button
Just to be sure select all the volume controls on the list.

Hit ok

Select wave out mix/stereo mix/mono mix

In your VOIP software see if there is any option to choose what input you want to use, if so use wave out.

What your pretty much doing is allowing the microphone to come out as an output, then making the standard capture input "wave mix" (Anything that comes out the speakers, including the recently unmuted mic, as well as audio etc is captured).

I had a go at changing the input in my VOIP software. Only gave me the option of selecting my soundcard rather than a specific input. Anyway I don't think there is much chance of it working but I will keep fiddling. Thanks guys.
