Question Where to get my car serviced?

G'Day everyone! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for 07!

As the recent owner of an 1999 AU Forte, and being new to this site, i was wondering if there is anyone out there in the Rockingham/ Kwinana area of WA that could tell me where to get my car serviced at a reasonable price, that won't try and rip me off and that will use the right fluids for my car, there is a certain ford dealership in my area (that i won't mention) that i have heard horror stories about, like letting a 15 year kid take to a 78 F100 with hammer and forgetting to tighten the sump plug after changing the oil!

I would love to service the car myself, but i have paid for a 3 year warranty, and if i touch the car myself, i risk voiding my warranty. (I should have read the fine print on my warranty as i have to get the car serviced every 3 months or 5,000 kms cause i bought it with 201,954kms on the clock) the warranty is with AWN.

If any out there can help me it would greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Rexy74

yeah the car has to serviced by an mechanic and stamped in a log book to be forwarded to the warranty within 14 days as proof it has been done, and seeing that a travel to perth every day to work, 5,000kms will take me 6 weeks to do, so $200 for a service every 6 weeks is a bit steep! I should have read the fine print!!!!! :(

haha I am a Perth boy originally, but can't help you with a service centre.

I CAN help you with this piece of useless trivia though, maybe you might even think yourself lucky after hearing this.

my mechanic reckons that alot of new american cars have a policy now that voids your warranty if you open the bonnet.

if you listen to music and fall asleep and the battery runs out, you have to get the car toed to the dealer. shocking hey!

Well for me the best possible place to get the car serviced is my driveway... and anything that is beyond me goes to Auto Masters in Maddington - they are very good. Unfortunately neither would be appropriate for you.

All I can tell you is to avoid KMart Tyre and Auto like the plague, and avoid dealer servicing if you possibly can.

Sorry I can't help you with Rocky / Kwinana area...

I would much prefer to do it in my own driveway too! At least i know its been done, who knows what they get up to once you leave your car in there hands, like using black and gold oil etc: i was thinking maybe autobahn?

a good thing to do is to try and get INTO the workshop while you're talking to them to see what kind of gear they use.

Thanks rynostation, i will do that, fords have a $157 special on at the moment, but the dealership where i live have a bad reputation, plus they go through your car with a fine tooth comb and pick the smaillest little faults, that have to fixed within 30 days or goodbye warranty!!!!

I don't think ford would care about a 3rd party extended warranty

I know it's a bit far but I use Aardvark at Mandurah. They let me supply my own oils if I feel a bit fussy and they let me see what's going on. You can also book in, go at the right time and wait- they are that efficient. They are on holiday until January 15th. The phone no is 9581 9581.
