Default Ford Fairlane Export

I just noticed this for sale by FTG (Site Sponsor)

Their comments state:
Today we have up for grabs we have something a little different!
A brand new BF FAIRLANE EXPORT dash cluster, it reads in MPH aswell as KPH!

BF Fairlane Export?

Now FTG have (in the past) been given a front cut of a 5.4L Territory, perhaps this has come out of a LHD Fairlane front cut?

What exactly do Ford have in store for the old boats I wonder.

Sounds like that's the go!
A wagon with a fairlane front is being exported to the UK.

Yet I can't order one with an XR6 front?!
Grr.

Too true, it's not til i emigrated here that i realised that those foreign hearses I saw around back in the UK weren't actually yank tanks, but Aussie Fords!!

NF/AU Fairlanes were the most common i seem to remember.

Well bugger me!

Strange that the fairlane estate would have white faced dials though!

I spent about 5 months in Britain in 1997 and saw a couple of LTD's over there. Found out that there was a small number of them being exported to the UK each year. And yes, in the UK, everything is still in miles, including speedos.

As for the middle east, definitely LH drive only in that part of the world - saw many VT Commodores (Chevy Llumina's) in Saudi Arabia after they were released there in 1998.

my guess is a UK export fairlane or territory

Perhaps South Africa measure their speed in MPH as well as KM/H hence the 'export' tag. Look at the speedo. I know the poms still use MPH.

EDIT: too slow with typing on a laptop and FTG beat me.

Sounds like you have already been pondering the idea. Witht the cars you go through it wouldn't be to hard would it??? I saw your other thread about wanting a Territory.

What about Thailand ... I am sure the Territory's were being exported there as well ... not sure if they use MPH or KM/H ... or if they are LHD or RHD ... anyone know???

No Territories in the UK yet...

As a side line, Vauxhall are testing the Calais V and HSV Conformodores to see whether some Aussie sedan muscle would be viable, seeing as more GTO Monaros were sold there than here!

Sorry to drag this thread off topic (and brand) !
