Default Finally, stripes!

The stripes I bought off eBay finally arrived a few days ago. They're a bit narrower & lighter than I'd hoped, but they still look good to me. I still need to apply them to the rear bumper, but here's what I've done so far:

The hardest part was getting the vinyl to conform to the compound curves around the rear badge area while keeping them straight and even.

Gratuitous photo of the interior.

Finally a member of the Stripey club. The pinstripes on the side have to go, and I'll probably put the stock wipers back on. Future plans include lowering (far in the future), colour-coded WQ plastic side strips and fitting the damn fog lights I bought 3 months ago (still need the bezels). Hopefully I'll have a reasonable-looking ST clone soon.

Anyway, Have a happy & safe New Year.

Thanks guys for all the positive words. It must be nice to see the car through fresh eyes, because after applying the stripes, I got fricking sick of looking at the car for a while.

Adsy01: the front bumper was just painted with satin black from a rattle can. What can I say? I'm a tighta***.

Helder: I just followed the application instructions that came with the vinyl - soapy water in a spray bottle applied to the surface and the back of the stripes, then gone over with a squeegee and a clean cotton cloth to push the air bubbles out. It was actually much easier than I thought it would be.

Luke: Thanks! SFS is looking like a definite go for me. I got the damn hazard light issue resolved too.

Danny: Don't leave us for VW!

I love how the car looks now, but my wife has taken to calling me "rice boy".
