Hi guys, After the Christmas break I will be getting super low suspension for my EB wagon, my question is do I get new super low leafs ($350) or go for the reset option (about $135) my instinct is telling me that because the reset ones are alot cheaper they must be worse or bad quality or something? What are peoples experiences with reset springs?
Thanks Mike |

the reset option would give you options in height as the superlows may not be low enough, yet the handling wont be as stiff or as refined as the superlows either. if you are after a damn low car that handles ok then go the reset, or if you are really precise about handling then get the superlows.

Better shocks, don't let anyone fool you about Monroe.
- Boge - Bilstiens - Koni - KYB Spend up and you can adjustable bad boys to suit your style, me I went on a recommendation of KYB and I'm happy. Shocks have alot to do with handling. They regulate the amount of shock the car takes from a bump and the amount of rebound. Get it wrong and they'll be bouncy bouncy get too comfortable and you'll soak up everything and you might as well fit a tiller to your new boat. Stiffer springs help as well as lowering that reduces the height of the centre of gravity.

What about sway bars, I'm not really in the know when it comes to suspension, what exactly do these do in terms of stiffening etc? I've mainly heard about whitline ones on this site are they the best?

ok so my plan is:
1. new/pre loved fron springs and reset leafs 2. upgrade on shocks (middle of the road performance) wot else can we do to improve our wagon's ride quality / handling?

We got the leaf springs reset to 2 inches lower on our 79 LTD, kept the same shocks. But we also asked them to put in another 2 leafs aswell. They ended up putting in three which made it heavier duty than tonner springs. Rides real nice.

That would be nice and stiff wouldn't it, with the extra leaves, was that so you could carry a decent bit of weight in it?

Yeh we can't find the diff bump stop anywhere, and when we gunned it with people in the back, the tailshaft would hit the floor. Was a real pain in the ***. Getting them reset has stopped that now.

How does the lowering block method compare to using reset or new leafs?
My old man used lowering blocks on his Gli wagon and made it a nice height without seeming to make any difference on handling.

We had lowering blocks for years before we got them reset. But I can't really compare blocks vs reset, as we got the extra leafs put in. It's not expensive at all to get the extra leafs put in, and it's well worth it I reckon. You'd think you'd feel every bump but you don't.

Cost me about $700.00 but I self installed everything.
I got new King springs (lowered 30mm) on the front and new shorter sports struts to suit. For the rear I got new King leafs (lowered 50mm) plus shorter sports shockers to suit. Also new bushes, Camber kit, U bolts, etc. Not the easiest operation, took half a day. Ensure you get a wheel alignment after words.
