got my 15000 k service done today and as the warranty expires in 2 weeks i asked about extended warranty for it. i was quoted $1500 for 3 years or up to 100,000 ks (i dont think ks will be a problem)
this seems to be a lot. is this a dealer priced thing or is the price set down by ford. what have others paid for this warranty?? i really want a warranty as the thing has only done 1000 ks since the new engine went in and i want to make sure it is a good one! |

That's what I got quoted - you should try RACV extended warranty, I looked into it but they wouldn't do an ACT car. From memory it was quite a bit cheaper ($800-$900??) and they seemed a lot more flexible than Ford too.

There are many different companies that offer it, through ford i was given the option of going with a company called "swan", wich matched everything ford did, but for half the price. ask about that?

My warranty on my XR8 runs out in March, so when I had the 45,000 service done last week I asked them the same question. The most expensive one was to extend warranty for another 3 years and up to 160,000kms. The price for this was $1565. There was however 6 different options for warranty extention, length of time and km amounts. I think that I will be going for either 2 year 100,000kms for $1065 or if I get a bit of overtime when I go back to work, I'll get the $1565 one. I was also told that this warranty is exactly the same as the original factory one.
Hope this helps. Greg. |

shouldnt your new engine ( only) be covered by a new warranty . i'd look into that.
imagine the new engine went in on the last day of warranty . does that mean you wouild drive out of the dealership with no warranty on the engine ??? |

$1500 for a further 3 years is good insurance on a BA. But as far as your new engine goes, isn't that covered by a lifetime like warranty where they warrant any new part put in your car arising from a repair.
