Default wheels for probe

Hi,

i have just purchased a probe and am thinking of fitting larger wheels.
i was wondering what common wheels would fit as i am looking at buying seconhand.
i am assuming that all ford wheels are the same.

Welcome aboard, I wasa lonely Prober here!
You should check out http://forums.probetalk.com/index.php for all your Probing needs, even an Australian section.
Probes are mechanically Mazda and share parts with MX6, 626 & Telstars etc of the same era. Body work is a different matter & there are limits to up sizing wheels & tyre.

Welcome to the forums, you'll have an 'easier' time finding wheels to fit a Probe as opposed to a Cougar as you have a much more common stud pattern. Depending on the look you're after there is a wide variety of different rims you can get.

Take a look at www.directwheels.com.au , they have a Probe on their site here http://www.directwheels.com.au/compo...id,8/PageNo,1/

or try www.tyres.com for a huge range in wheel choice.

Think link is pretty cool also if you want to see all the brands available for the sized tyre you're after.
http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...mp;vehicle=yes
There's also a web site that tells you, if you're planning on going for a larger diametre, how much the speed of the car will vary due to the differences and hence whether it's legal or not, recommended or at least you'll be aware of the difference & therefore adjust your speed to avoid getting your picture taken I'll try to find it in my failed dewy system of favourites.

Just to clarify Dan,

What are the stud patterns of both.

I thought the cougar would be the 114.3 x 5?
What is the probe??

Ashley

Hey Ashley,

the Probe I believe has the 5x114 stud pattern.

The Cougar, being Euro-based has a 4x108 stud pattern.

That is a surprise, I would have thought the cougar would have just followed most of the fords over here. So the probe can pretty well put any mazda/ford/toyota/mitsubishi wheel on then?
