Saw an article today in The Advertiser aobut police using a speed camera inside a wheelie bin! No roadside notices were put up to warn motorists that a speed camera was operating in the area. Apparently caught 350 drivers last Sunday. Operators are "public servants" attached to the police security section....not police officers. They were in a car 100m away.
A spokesperson said covert speed cameras had been in use for a number of years. This is revenue raising at its worst : Camera was at cnr of Liebelt & Echunga Rd's

I have seen photos of said bin camera for around 2 years or maybe even over that, same email, same photos, just doing the roads but have never heard of it in operation.
There have even been a few threads on it but I CBF looking for them.

That’s when I will be driving down the street in the 4by, and as I am forced to swerve to miss a dog that has run across the road and mount the curb at 50km/h and just happen to clean this Camra bin up. The once stoped I accidentally reverse back over it wile I look to see if the dog is OK.
Yeah whoops |

^^^^ i like your story, could never hit the dog :evil3:
I heard on one of the radio news casts that these cameras are and have been a trial (fines not issued) as reliability had been a big concern in the first model 2 years ago. It will only be a matter of time until these are in full use in suburban streets on rubbish days though. |

Was this on the way to victor? Heard a very grapeviney rumour about its use last weekend.
Lol, no need for covert cameras on that road... sit a bloke in his squad car with a bright orange vest and you'll still nab 350 ppl/day along there lol.

Yes this is bad news.
I live in Echunga and i saw it while driving to Mylor. Its 80 through that part of the road which is ridiculous. People in the town are megga ****ed about the "entrapment" factor. I slowed down on Sunday from about 100km/h only because if i see a new model vehicle on the side of the road , i tap the brakes straight away irrespective of my speed.
