Not unless you get too close, using a high pressure cleaner will actually stop swirling as it removes all the crap off the top of the paint.

most shopping centre car washes use high pressure hoses as their first stop, and i havnt seen a class action against any of them by disgruntled car owners....

HIgh pressure washers are a good thing for the car.... removes most grit and what not to save you rubbing stuff into the paint with your sponge / wash mitt.
The down side to them is that it is high pressure.... and if you have like a chip or something there is a very very small chance this pressure can lift the paint at that point. When you use a high pressure washer you basically are meant to have it like 1meter away from the paint just to be safe. Me... i cain it real close to get rid of bugs on the front.. then use it as per normal. |

Used it for 4 years, love it. Never had an issue, best way to keep the car clean in the water restrictions environment we live in.

And some of them I believe you can add a detergent into the high pressure stream.... which is great for cleaning brake stains off alloy wheels.
