It was a mish-mash of previous 'supercar' reviews... the actual series has, I believe finished now.

At least we're still only 18 months behind the UK..... :

Lucky for me, I never get to watch it anyway so in a sense it's good that I am not dissapointed.

Plus my mate has BitTorrent so he always shows me the good stuff.

I don't get SBS where I live, but is this the same show as 5TH Gear that screens on Foxtel?

Nope. 5th gear is a similar type of show with a presenter named Tiff Needell. Not half as good as TopGear IMO.

Top Gear and 5th Gear were all the same crew at one time in the past - but had a spat and now we get two car shows to watch!

Australia should do its own "Top Gear" on TV.

Can't say I'm a fan of "the car show". The cars are pretty lame (most of the time) compared to those tested by Top Gear.

drive.com.au had that show on a little while ago, it was ok. They ripped Top Gear off big time and they had too many ads and shorts for their sponsors.

the latest one is great with the lambo murcielago lp640 man that thing is quick cos it hits 207mph on top gears test track with jezza driving it and the koenisigg ccx only did 192mph and the tractor bit is pretty good too.
But the space shuttle project in last weeks ep was just epic, it is a pity the shuttle(aka reliant robin) failed to detach from the rocket at 3000ft or watever it was, but it was just an awesome visual episode cos i wasnt expecting to get so much altitude

I'd love to do an Aussie show like this. The Car Show and Drive are just plain lame. They are not funny, they talk too slowly and the cars are mostly boring.

The cars issue might be because we don't get manye exotic cars for journos to play with as much as the UK might, as most of those types of cars come from the European continent and would be more common?

But if we can find the right host and side kicks with good senses of humour and make it fun to watch, not just for the cars, then that would be great. Can you imagine a local Aussie host bagging the crap out of a poorly made car sold here? I wonder if any journo would have the guts to attack any car on loan for a test like Jeremy / Top Gear does.

That's why I like Top Gear so much, because they can say the most brutally awful yet true things about any car.

Edit: I forgot to mention the brilliant work they do with the music, photography and editing. No wonder they only make X shows per season. They must have access to a massive pool of licences (courtesy of BBC?) for their music as I've recognised so many old tunes from movie soundtracks and obsure European electronic artists. I don't think we'd have the same resources locally.

Car Show ? Yep not even a shadow of Top Gear....

Top gear is entertainment, Car Show is boredom !!

Now if they had an Aussie 'Clarkson' (ie: someone with personality) and some decent script writers maybe it would be watchable.

Too true. The way the editing is done is outstanding. Each review has it's own styalised presentation which, along with the commentary, makes this show a joy to watch.
