Default Theft of minor vehicle parts

Ok, tonight I came out of the supermarket to find that some lowlife twat has stolen the little piece of plastic that covers the hole for the towbar on my EL sedan. Not a significant piece of plastic by itself, but it will probably mean a whole new bar because no parts place will sell it alone (well wreckers wouldn't).

I'm ****ed off about the whole thing particularly because now I have to spend my time on saturday trudging through shitty wrecking yards trying to find a bar that isn't a complete waste of money just to buy a piece of plastic no bigger than a credit card. Then it has to be painted. What painter is going to want to paint a piece of plastic so small?! And what if I have to buy an entirely new bar to replace this tiny piece of plastic??

I have a tin of touchup paint from my front bar but it is old and may not be enough to do enough coats of the cover. : : : :

Who knows how much this could cost, I'm guessing probably about $350-400 maybe even $500 for a new rear bar. Or I could buy a towbar (I can't see if there's even anywhere to bolt it on).

This isn't the first time I've had something nicked - a couple of years back I had my mag centre caps nicked when it was parked outside a mech workshop overnight (the guy did not put it away and then tried to lie to me). That exercise cost me $100 to buy new ones and took about 2 months to have them shipped from China (because driving around without makes the car look really crappy, more than it already is).

It really ****es me off when stupid mentally deficient rockape bogans think they can VANDALISE and STEAL other people's property. I don't care if yours fell off or you lost it, don't touch my god damn car. I always thought Falcon owners had more respect for other people, now I see that some are no different to bogandore drivers!

What other small items have you guys had nicked off your car(s)? And what was the most expensive one you had to replace?

P.S. If, by some chance, the person who flogged it happens to be reading this thread (and I don't believe that any of the FF members WOULD partake in such a low act), I hope you're happy. Please note that the security cameras in the carpark are of excellent quality and the lighting is perfect for good quality footage. Oh and if you're going to steal something from someone in a place with cameras, don't drive your own car.

What about people who have there colour coded or chrome mirror caps taken. There clear indicators on the side. Their badges be it FPV or Tickford.

Newmarket. I wouldn't have thought that thieving bogans came so close to the city, but clearly I am wrong.

Yeah it sucks. The problem with getting a tin of spray is that my car is Bermuda Green, which as it turns out is a fairly uncommon Ford colour from that era. Everytime I go to a Ripco, Supercheap or Autobarn, they never have that colour or anything close to it.

Yeah that would really **** me off, more than this did. I feel sorry for anyone with a good car - you can't really park them anywhere without fear of some scumbag stealing stuff off it.

fit a towbar dude. and drive around with black steel wheels with no hubcaps and faded paint. rip all your badges off and have no areal either. also remove your back quarter panel glass too as they can be broken. oh remove your stereo and speakers too. rip out your glovebox, take out the ash tray and the centre console lid too.
You might be lucky and have no one look at your car then
no worries about key scratches, busted windows etc... nothing to steal here foxxers :P
** sarcasm for those who don't understand!
but really thats shocking... is there any chance that the bugger fell out???

Wouldn't Ford still have the part available? The EL is still within the 10 year period where manufacturers have to have parts available. Have you tried Ford?

Nah I am positive it was there when I went in. I'm one of those people who gives their car a quick glance whenever walking away. I would've noticed it on the way into shops, I definately noticed it when I came back!

One thing I have learnt these days is that thieving bogans will steal anything that isn't nailed down, and even then they'll still try and steal it.

If you see a bogan stealing something, it should be legal to whack them but the law says no, so you can't. :

Anyways, going to call Ford today and see if I have any luck. I'm still deciding whether or not I should just go get a towbar, I mean at least its a good rear end protector/radiator destroyer. OTH they are fairly expensive and I could get a whole new bar fairly cheap from a wrecker (its just the painting that kills you).

The big thing to steal down here in Vic seems to be ashtrays. My old man got his knocked off out of his Courier. Admittedly it was full of coins but a replacement one costs 80 bucks or something, for a peice of black plastic. Suffice to say he still doesnt have an ashtray.

My mate had his ashtray knocked off out of his ef (actually its still technically mine but I digress). The strange thing is all it was full of was ash and his centre console had like 20 bucks in notes in it and that was still there. All they had to do was open the lid and it was clearly visible on top.

We have a wreckers here called Pick n Nick. That sort of thing would go straight in the pocket. You could probably get one from ford for about $5 but then you'd have to paint it.

ARALDITE it in this time! You could always get a TOWBAR.
Wouldn't Ford have a pile of these from dealer fitted towbars? You might even try a towbar shop?

Actually, what colour do you need?

I had all of my cowl mounted gauges stolen of the drag car we ues to have. There were five in total. It was entered in the Vic Hot Rod show about 10 years ago. Turned out to be one of the security guards.

I had steel valve stems on my last car as I used to do a few track days. I lost count of how many times I had to replace the steel valve caps on all four tyres.....
One day I actually caught two kids taking them off, both would have been about 8-10 years old....

What the hell is wrong with society these days???

50 years ago you would have given them a kick up the ****, grabbed them by the ear and taken them home to their parents who would have flogged them. You can't do that these days, that's what's wrong. That and fast food.

Bad luck man, sucks when bogans do that. But surely you wouldn't spend 00s of dollars to get a new bar just 'cause you're missing a plastic cover?

Most wrecked BAs will have that part intact. Or of you see a BA in a panel beater's shop, see if they have replaced the rear bar, they might still have the bit.

Edit: Sorry, just realised it was an EL. Should be heaps of these in the wreckers though.

I got sick and tired of replacing the rear XR6 badge from the rear so now left it without one..

EDIT: considering the XR6 badges cost all of about $25 I think, its pretty irritating!!

Fairmont99 had the drivers side mirror glass stolen off his Skyline.

Of course he was too lazy to go get another one, so knowing a few people here that are into them, and had some that were damaged/parted out I got one off them, in return for working a night at our restaurant.
