Seems like nine have the Willowbank dragtrack mixed up with Queensland raceway. My sympathies go to the family. Anyone have a pic of before hand, like a pic of the car before it was crashed?

They stated there was a crash at the same track last month, resulting in the injuries of two people.

Quote:
It is the second serious accident at the raceway in a month.

Two men were critically injured when their race car slammed into a wall at the track on February 11.

I think its just worded a little wrong. You could take it as the second crash at the same track, or a second crash at the same raceway..

Only just saw the shorts for the News at 6.00pm and this is one of the head line stories, he was from Mackay and a veteran drag racer, no other details as yet.
My sympathies also go out to the family

According to Ch7 News-
Ken Smith from Mackay.
They believe he was unconscious when he crossed the finish line, which may have played a part.

That initial crash was at the Queensland Raceway, apparently something to do with the "V8 Race Experience" thingo. This one was at Willowbank raceway.

From what I heard, ... He was doing a licensing passes in his front engine dragster, for this weekends Nostalgia meet. I don't like to throw in scenarios, or theories, we shall leave that to the investigating parties.

Condolences to his family and friends. A tragic thing to happen to the drag racing community, but we all know the risks involved with the sport we love.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ken Smith. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and with the track crew who are there week in week out and help no matter how horrific the situation.
GodSpeed to you all.
