Default Forum suggestion, maybe not possible?

Just a suggestion to ease navigation, there is a box below the part of the page that advertises becoming a donation member

it has the user cp etc in it, it also has links to the parent catagory the thread belongs to, ie Australian ford forums/ford passenger cars/falcons/contemporary aus fords/ then the name of the thread you're currently reading

is it possible to have this box, or at least the links in it also repeated at the bottom of each page in the thread?

this would save having to scroll back to the top of the page, once you get to the bottom, to get to those links.

see what you reckon, maybe there's some other way to do it i dunno, cheers guys

Just press the "Home" button on the keyboard, and it will take you to the top of the page. Saving you from scrolling to the top again.

I have also wondered this too! would make navigation a lot easier, I would say this is the only forum I browse that doesnt have it down the bottom as well!

Not a bad idea, but like Fairlane_ghia said just hit the Home button!

it's ok to hit the home button, buuuuuuut that means scrolling back to thr top of the page - even tho it's done via the keyboard and not the mouse

the point is to improve navigation of the site, so if you hit the home key, you still have to click on one of the links to go to another page

if the link was at the bottom of the page (as per my suggestion), you just click on the link to go to whatever you want to go to

anyways, as i said earlier (i thought maybe someone knowledgeable about vBulletin forums might have been able to answer), it might not be possible, these forums are premade - how customisable they are i have no idea

where as fordmods is created by someone else, it has that facility (clickable links top and bottom of the page) and it makes navigation a whole lot easier
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=1

edit, and thanks to whoever moved this to the correct location, it was in the Pub - not such a bad place to be really

oh, forgot to say it'd also be nice to have the page number link that's up in the top right hand corner repeated in the lower right hand corner under the last post - it too might not be possible tho

It already does this.

As to the navigation bar, I personally see no great advantage in it and at the cost of a more cluttered page. If scrolling is really that painful, the forum jump box can be used.

how does it already do this? .. there is only one page number link on each page, its at the top r/h side of each page if there's more than one page to a thread

the forum jump box isn't the same, that's for jumping forums not pages in the thread

i too prefer clean pages, but i really can't see what's at the top of each thread repeated at the bottom cluttering up the page too much

it could be just one line next to, or below, the post reply box at bottom l/h corner and above the current link to previous thread/next thread

scrolling to the top isn't painful, but why have to do it when what you need to get to by scrolling could be at the bottom of the page and so eliminate a step in order to get to where you want to go - have you seen how fordmods is laid out?
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=1
withe the links i'm talking about incorporated, it's quite clean and uncluttered

How? Well, something like this:

It matters not at all how other sites have their layout, this isn't Fordmods and it's not happening.

Not sold on the idea myself at this stage, it may be a feature of future upgrades, but there are a couple of other things to run with at the moment

As a long time user of this forum, not a fan at all. I like the way it's sorted here.

So what if you have to spend 5-10 seconds scrolling to the top again, what are you going to miss in that time?

It's fine as is IMO, as said before, the home key is just as quick.

it's not about saving time, it's about convenience - and as said before, home key is fine, when you get to the top you still got to do what you could have done at the bottom

anyways, i'm glad you guys have seen what i was on about - thank you all for your input

The page number selection box I'm assuming, which as I explained, was already there.

Either that or the forum jump, or possibly the links after the BB link, which were equally there before.

It's just not there on single page threads.
