Default FPV vs HSV

I was talking to the FPV guys at the motorshow yesterday about how dissapointing the 40th aniversary model is. He said that the reason for this was that HSV owns all their cars, they buy them outright off Holden and can then do what they want and go as wild as they want.

However all FPV's are apparently still owned by Ford. FPV is then severly limited in what it can do with these vehicles. While they apparently could and would love to make some real fast and wild vehicles e.g: supercharge the V8's, Ford Australia has the final say. So there you go, I thought this was very interesting and am wondering what you guys think?

How is Holden going to own FPV's models??? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!!!

He's saying HSV owns the cars they produce, while Ford Australia has the final say, or atleast, owns the cars FPV produces.

And you all seriously beleive that Holden will let HSV do anything they want with their cars? For starters they are sold through the holden dealers, 2, they have the Holden badge on them.... and many other reasons they have TOTAL control. Who were these jokers working on the stand? Wont be there for much longer.

I dont know about anyone else, but I find the VE HSV range to be a bit of a let down. The cars just dont look as good as years gone by.

HSVs dont have Holden badges, they have only the HSV badges, whereas FPV cars still have the blue oval in the grille and on the boot garnish.

In terms of looks, I reckon the VX HSVs were the nicest ones.

i agree. IMO i think the VY and VZ are the nicest. the other day i pulled up behind two black ones, one with the 300kw badge and the other had the 280kw (i think) and i gotta admit, they took of pretty damn hard!

This is very accurate to what I have heard from a guy I know who is high up in the HSV world. He said HSV would always have different cars to FPV because FPV are more controlled by Ford then HSV are controlled by Holden.

That was a few years ago though so things may have changed since then.

Much better? yeah right....

Even if it were slightly better (not much better) remember its next years FPVs that will be the true competitor to VE...Then we will see how good VE is

Ummm you obviously have owned the VX so you can make a judgement about it compared to the VE? What does FPV have to do with it?

I think the VE looks much more modern and in fact it is starting to make the Falcons look a little dated in my opinion. As in it is starting to make the Falcons look a little bit old school.

Prodrive own 51% of FPV don't they? So they should be able to go hell for leather and produce what they want as they have the majority share...

...unless contractually Ford get final say; or
Ford actually own the "Names" (badgeplates) of GT, Pursuit, Typhoon, etc... Meaning that FPV can't produce these models without Ford's OK.

The VE has more Euro influence in its total appearance. The Falcons have a little Euro influence - around the front and rear lights, but no where near as much in total.
Maybe that's what makes the VE give you either a love-it-or-hate-it feeling at first sight.

Whats wrong with an ED? There a good looking car.

Anyway back to the topic, why dont FPV buy the cars off Ford outright? Whats stopping them?
