hi guys,
i'm new here to the thread. I own a 2003 Focus 3door zetec for about a year now. So far, i have not been able to find performance parts for Ford Focus such as AEM Cold Air Intake, Air Ram, brake kits, etc. Currently im looking for sports lowering springs to fit on, does anyone know where to find them? cheers |

Azlanyeng, you'll find very little off the shelf here in Australia. Mostly off international websites.
Ocassionally you'll find a local supplier for a particular brand (eg Revolution Racegear for Pipercross air filters) but sites like European parts are your best bet. Just be a little cautious of the US sites. Usually cheaper, but the US Focus can just a little different to ours and you'll occasionally find things don't fit that well. There are a few off us with experience on here, so if you're not sure on a particular part...just ask!!!!

I know this sound dumb, but the freight is cool if the parts are small. It's when you start looking at headers (or wheels or panels!!!) that it starts to get ridiculous.
Most will quote you freight. But often the freight can be more than the part!

You could have easily went to a local exhaust specialist to get it done :1syellow1 i suppose theirs a downside to ordering parts internationally. I recently checked this website out called www.infocusmotorsport.com.au and they sell quite a number of good stuff. Some things are cheap but some are not. |

No. Herrod no longer do exhausts for Focus. But their exhausts were built by Hi Tech in Bathurst NSW. I am sure they can fabricate one up for you. Both "Focusonthis" and myself have these exhausts. Mine is stamped "Herrod Motorsport" and I got it from Rob Herrod. Adam's is stamped "Hi Tech", but I'm not sure where Adam purchased his

I will be honest with you. On idle its quiet. When you hit about 3000rpm thats when hear it. It is stainless steel all the way through... I might have got a bit ripped off but this was the first mod I have done. I paid $800 for it.

Thats why im very tempted to get one... the only thing i dont want though is the annoying drone some aftermarket exhausts can produce.. Something just a little more throaty than the stock exhaust that isent annoying, and will give some gains would be ideal.. Any reputable places around Melbourne that you guys could recommend i visit?? That wont charge an arm and a leg lol..

I can be honest and say I've heard Adam and Steve's exhausts (same) and they are way too quiet for my liking, something about them just doesn't make the engine sing the way I like. It's more like a really good quality OE exhaust than an aftermarket one to me.
The one I had fitted was a 2 1/4 inch cat-back with a single good-flow muffler at my local exhaust shop (not a high-flow so as to reduce droning) and it was pure porn on wheels.... check it our for yourself. Perfectly road legal, no cruising drone and at 60km/h and 80km/h it was barely audible, only really when I floored it did it sing. I still miss it but too much traffic driving forced me to go back to stock since it slightly decreased low down torque and made my stop-start highway work annoying. Should also add, I only paid about $500 fitted including the rolled chrome tip in mild steel and couldn't have been happier. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...oid=1372531969

Sounded awesome mate! The low down torque available while stock isen't that great either so if an exhaust makes it worse im a bit iffy about getting one then.. I live in brunswick and head up to bundoora for uni everyday so i need as much of that low down torque as i can get.. Plus once you turn on the aircon there aint much of it left! Are there any ways to keep or improve that torque without spending a fortune? Where did you get it fitted btw, im assuming somewhere local right?

I actually got it fitted in Parramatta, Sydney when I used to live up there.
It's not like it suffered majorly, but just needed a few more revs to be happy, I'm just being picky. It was still good to drive, just seemd less because the midrange/top end was so much cleaner and happier. I quite like the stock exhaust to be honest up to 5,500rpm, it's not too bad for what it is and sounds decent enough for a stocker and for what I need, it does the job admirably. Best way would be the higher flow K&N style filter (panel filter) with maybe some good fuel (98 RON). Sadly I never ran my car on 98 RON when I had the exhaust and had I done that, it might still be fitted today. 95 RON was just never in love with my exhaust.

Matt's exhaust was really easy to fit too, I know cos we fitted it to my old car. If you can get an exhaust and are handy with a hacksaw blade and a set of car ramps, you can put it on yourself.

I think everyone here knows the exhaust I got was the Cosworth Stainless Steel 2.5" T409. Sounds absolutely brilliant taking off and really helped the car out with grunt power. But I paid the price for it....all $1500 of it......but put it on myself and saved a lot of money there.
The high flow mufflers help a lot.
