Smile Just got my Xr6 ED buttt Queries

Finally came home tonight in my new ED XR6, has alot more power than the classic did, lets beautiful, and i'll get somepics up once things are done like wheels etc, just a few concerns with it tho,
--when i press the acceleterator while drive, giving it a bit of gas instantly, i think its the diff that makes a clunking noise...thats a bad thing right?
--When i go over a bump or a turn i get a 'knock' kind of noise from the front or back right side, i think it maybet to do with susepension.
--Open the hood, give it a bit of gas n listen to it, the fan seems to make alot of noise, is it a big job to get rid of that noise (other than a thermo) put my one on from my classic?
-- LASSST thing, the aircon is not cold when i put it on, changing that over from my old car ed, is that big as well?

Hopefully somepeople can solve these quieries, as i have an idea but can't be deffiant, let alone how to solve.
thanks
- Ash

agree with the diff and thermos.

maybe spend the $14 and get pedders to look over the entire suspension...

with the a/c, get a a/c specialist to look at it, and see if the evaporator is cactus, which could be causing your a/c to be leaking, hence not being cool

--Yeah the car already has LSD, how much does it cost to rebuild or new one? which is the least expensive,
--I want to change my shocks and springs but im scared its not the shocks and springs that are making the noise, oh and that if i do lowre it a bit more, the exhaust is also very alow as it is:S
--with the a/c how much does it cost to regas, or should i just change the gasbottle from my old car and put it in the xr?
--Thermo's i really want in but can't afford them, is it a hard job to change the fan to my old one? OR is it even the cause of the fan that is making that loud 'roaaar whooosh' noise?

EDadam, yeah it was private, guy in bundooora.

LSD's cost around $550 to $600 for a rebuild.

Rollin is selling his koni's at the moment. $400 for the lot. (i am not sure if they have sold though). It may not be shocks and springs, it could be worn out bushes as well.

There is no gas bottle to change over. it will leak out as soon as you undo one of the a/c pipes. you may be refering to the receiver/drier at the front of the car. that is there to remove moisture from your a/c system.

to get your a/c regassed it will cost around $110-$150. depends if they replace the receiver/drier, which they should do (they only cost around $30).

thermos arent that important for you at the moment. get your suspension, diff and a/c sorted first. then wack in the thermos.

All up, a thermo conversion should cost no more than $250. If you pick up a decent set of 2nd hand fans, you can also buy a wiring harness from a guy on ebay. i have fitted 2 of these to other members cars, and they work a treat. the wiring harness costs $130.

I'd be checking to see if all your bushes were in good nick, could be causing your knocks...

good to know!
ive bought one of his looms, but am yet to install it
have to get my thermostat housing drilled out for the sensor..(dont want to remove the climate control sensor)

you said the exhaust is low, are you sure its not that knocking on your diff thats making the sound?

mine was hitting my diff and god it was annoying...that was with pedders lows..... i just had the tail pipe removed and a pair of dump tips on the ends of my mufflers(dual exhaust) sounds pretty nuts ATM but im not sure how long i'll leave it like it.

now i have no exhaust to worry about, im gonna get arround to fitting my ultralows

the knock noise is most probably coming from your rear shock... my bet is that the bottom bolt is not tight enough, it needs to be REAL tight.

if the clutch fan is too loud, get a louder exhaust :

Is your car cog swapper or slush box? your uni joints in your tailshaft are most likely making that noise.. Manual cars are more demanding on tailshafts in most accelerating situations..
have fun with it

haha louder exhaust, yeah im looking into that,
yeah im a bit worried about that clunk, it does soundl liek a bolt or nut is loose.
COg swapper of slush box??!??!?! ooh haha yeah its a slush box (Auto), that im concerd abotu as well, as when i go to slow down it seems to make a decelerating whining noise like to the speed of the wheels, kind of hard to explain, but my last car didn't make it.
