Default My Night

Last night

My mate calls me up, asks if i want to catch up with him for coffee so we arrange a time and I get a buzz later on that night from him to let me know he's outside so I walk out the door and there is a Porsche Boxter S sitting in my driveway and he's in the passenger seat...My jaw drops open at the suggestion of me driving it but he's cool about it. We're not going for coffee anymore...we're heading up the freeway for a bit of a drive! :

All I can say is wow...the balance of that car is amazing and the power from the mid mounted flat six is just awesome...In every single gear...including 6th, the thing accelerates...the torque is just there and it sits so well through the corners..I now know first hand why Wheels and Motor love the thing...the power Porsche can get out of a N/A Flat 6 is just awe inspiring.

Some how we ended up going out To Joondalup and then Fremantle and Back to Perth...

I also found out first hand what its like to be treated like a Porsche Driver.. In Fremantle there was a Big Prang on a Roundabout... it was clear though as the Ute was up on its side off the road...in a main street..I dont know how...so me and my mate double back through the roundabout with our cameras ready and the policeman stops me telling me that I'm rubber necking (at two in the morning in an abandoned street???...maybe just coincedence)

Anyway! It didnt overshadow the night! It's been a top 3 weeks!!!

In the last 3 weeks, I have driven a Cayenne V8, an Audi A6 Turbo and now a Boxter S.. one of the most memorable years yet...

Wow that's awesome...

I drove a Ferrari F355 a few years ago when my brother managed to get a test drive.

Tight squeeze for a 6' 3" bloke but it was awesome !!!

The Engine note......Mmmmmmmmmm.

I know..i love the sound of exotic's...or Hi-Po N/A engines...the exhaust on the S would make all this beautiful noise when down shifting...i dont know the word but those little popping sounds
I bet the F355 noise is engraved into your head now Barra

Agree on the engine note, I had a chance to drive a 348 Ferrari when i was 19, all i got to do was start the car... I couldnt phyiscally fit in the car to drive... but the engine note, that made my Mk I Escort sound like a whipper snipper.

Im 6'4" so had the same trouble you potentially had... damn these expensive euro exotics..

Its awesome isn't it? I drove my uncle's F355 about a month ago. I'm 6'2" and the only problem I found was initially getting in (its very low). When inside, it felt as if they had me in the factory and moulded me to the car... everything was perfect.

haha. I know what your talking about! just remembering all the looks I give Porsche drivers. When Im driving the work car(AU3 Wagon) and someone in a Porsche pulls up next to you at the lights and gives you that look as he looks down your car : . then I give him the angry look :jab: RAHHHHHH!!!!

I was lucky enough to have a few laps 'round Wakefield Park in a Porsche GT3. I didn’t even know the owner. I asked if he could take me for a few laps, and he did. Then we got back to the pits and he asked if I wanted a drive. Did i heck!!
It had semi-slicks on the front and Dunlop SP 9000's (i think they were) on the back. The grip and feedback was amazing!! The power and the brakes were equally as stunning!!
It all turned a little ugly but. Coming back down the hill at Wakefield Park, doing about 150Km/h through the esses, I had a touch of understeer. I’m my Falcon I'd just lift off the throttle, regain grip, and I’d be on my merry way. This, however, does not work in a Porsche.
It understeered, I lifted, we spun onto the grass/dirt at 150Km/h, filling the cockpit of the Porsche with dirt, dust and grass. Have you any idea how bad I felt???
I still have these pictures in my mind. One is looking out of the passenger window, looking in the direction I wanted to go, thinking, "Well, this isn't good". And the other is looking out the windscreen as we spun off the track backwards and all I could see was dust.
When the car finally stopped, the owner says, "That’s ok, turn round and we'll do a few more laps". I felt like vomiting, so we returned to the pits.
I don’t think it helped that the it had semi-slicks on the front and worn street tyres on the back.
Amazing car but!! I feel disappointed that I didn't more laps in it.

Here is a pic of the GT3 http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...y/DSC_9202.jpg
