The International competitiveness of Australian drag racing's superstars will be on show during the QT Tin Top Titles at Queensland's Willowbank
Raceway on April 28. Billed as the penultimate round of ANDRA Australian Top Doorslammer and Pro Stock categories, the event will this year be an all-sedan affair appropriately backed by the Pro Street Outlaws and Pro Turbo brackets, made famous in Powercruise and Fast Fours Jamboree competition. As previously announced by event promoters, 21 year-old Queensland Pro Stock young gun Shane Tucker, who has progressed from the Junior Dragster ranks at Willowbank, will pursue a career in America's NHRA next season. Now Brisbane Top Doorslammer campaigner Aaron Lynch will embark on a fly-by campaign in the US, as part of a very high profile lead in to the QT Tin Top Titles back home. "We are basically going over there to experience the top level competition of the NHRA in the hope it will make us an even better proposition in Australia," confirmed Lynch. "In the sport of drag racing it's just tenths, hundredths and thousandths of a second which can mean the difference between winning and losing and everyone's out there trying to gain an advantage. "We'll happily take on board any advice given by some of the big players over there and be ready to mix it up back at Willowbank, starting with the QT Tin Titles at our home track. "It was at the Tin Tops last year that we claimed the World's fastest ever pass of 245.77mph in the B+L Steel '63 Corvette and also became just the second Top Doorslammer team to move into the five second range. "There are no plans at this stage for us to make the move to the States full-time as we are more passionate about getting things right and chasing down a National Championship back here in Australia." For Willowbank Raceway officials the sheer class of fields that are likely to take to the quarter mile on April 28 is testament to the expansion of drag racing in Australia. Appropriately, with such World-class drivers on show, the QT Tin Top Titles is fast becoming a significant preliminary event to the Internationally acclaimed Willowbank Winternationals on June 8-10. "The cards are certainly falling into place for us during 2007 and after our massive New Year's Top Fuel showdown we are really looking to ramp things up towards the QT Tin Top Titles," said Willowbank Raceway General Manager Steve Bettes. "In drag racing circles Willowbank Raceway is highly regarded and has always endeavoured to put on a good show for the fans. "This task becomes so much easier when we have the calibre of Group One drivers that are currently competing on the National scene. "Like all our regular racers, Aaron and Shane have contributed significantly to the growth of Willowbank Raceway and it'll be great to see them in action on April 28. "When you have a feature program that includes the likes of Gary Phillips, John Zappia, Brett Stevens and Victor Bray vyeing for the major Championship honours in Top Doorslammer, plus young Queenslander Aaron Tremayne making headway in the Pro Stock ranks, it makes for a huge occasion at the QT Tin Top titles." Anticipation reigns during the countdown towards the QT Tin Top Titles on April 28 with the return of the most incredible all-sedan confrontations as Top Doorslammer, Pro Stock, Pro Street Outlaws and Pro Turbo categories headline this time honoured tradition of Queensland drag racing. In essence the format of the QT Tin Top Titles will see the realisation of drag racing activities inclusive of Group One sedans plus the vastly popular Fast Fours Jamboree and Powercruise scenes which have continually attracted massive interest among drag racing fans.
