Check the filter first.Thats easier to change and MAY be the cause, you dont want to pull your tank out to pull the pump out for fun!!!!! Check your TPS too as this contributed too hard starts in my XR6 but who knows. |

easiest way to do a fuel pump in a AU or BA ute is to remove the tub liner
then undrill the spot welds in the floor panel above the fuel tank. bend floor up carefully , remember you need to put it back down!!. so be neat! change fuel pump (and check the plugs as they can fail aslo) then bend floor back down and rivet back into place, replace tubliner and your done this way it can be done in about 1hr and you dont need a hoist. |

thankx i'll remember that for next time i did it the hard way. Which worked out ok cause the tank was full of rubbish. the hard way is remove exhust, remove tailshaft, undo axle U bolts slide axle back so the tank would clear every thing took me 5 hrs all up. your way sounds lots better

Did you use any fuel hose inside the tank to attach the new pump? If so possible wrong hose was used. There is special hose to be submerged in fuel, ordinary EFI hose will swell...Just an idea....
