Chrome Dressing

Hello Members - I hope some of you can give me some ideas on the following matter. As Ghia and higher end drivers will know the boot has chrome trim above the rear number plate. On my vehicle this has become covered with light scratches, none of which I have been able to eliminate.

I personally would like to have this trim frosted in its finish, if there was somewhere to get this done. However, I would like to see what other members would have as ideas to either get rid of these scratches or cover them up.

it would be easy to do if it was real chrome metal, but as it is plastic the only way to fix would be get it re chromed dipped, and even then the finish would not last as long as the proper factory one.

If your really desperate you could just replace the garnish, but at $150 i dont think this is the best option.

Frosted would look real crappy I think. I would try to get a good second hand one from the wreckers. I think there are places which does plastic chroming, where you could get it chromed as per original. Look up the yellow pages.

Also dont use this as a handle for when opening or closing the bootlid, to prevent future scratches. But then you cant control kids and wives.
