id hate to be driving an auto xt when racing an au series 3 hp xr6 cos they are certainly quicker than an el and handle better than both. ford really took quite a few steps forward when they released the ba but they also took some backwards steps too

my EL only has 104 000k,s and she's mint!
and i think she would easily account for a ba xt ,she definatly feels faster than the work ba's and it's an auto |

A lot of EL XR6's would give my old man's BA Fairmont Ghia V8 a run.
I personally don't think it's much quicker than a BA 6. Once its up and running though, it shits on them, but off the mark, its not really any better. A Manual EL XR6 will beat an Auto BA XT, but try finding a manual EL XR6, thats stock anymore. So it kind of makes it hard. |

I haven't driven an EL XR6 but my guess is that the manual EL XR6 would beat the BA XT auto to 100 by about 0.3-0.5 seconds. Down the quarter there would be nothing in it as the BA would catch up after it passes 100kph. Assuming the EL has done less than 200,000km of course.

Dual Fuel, Sequential Vapour Injection. Pretty much even on LPG & Petty. G-tech times were quicker in the ef than the BA on petrol or Gas. |

just to tell you guys i raced a ba xr6 in my EF manual Futura.(fairly fresh, 117,000kms. STOCK except for 2.5 catback)
of course we raced on a private road..... and it was for about 300 or so metres i was about 1 1/2 car lengths in front until we hit third gear and the xr6 started creeping up. btw this time though we had finished.. |

EL XR6 manual for sure.
An EF Futura manual that I know of *coff* has left a few BAs behind... easily. |

el xr6 for sure, no contest.. I say this as i have an au xr6 AUTO Stock as a rock, and have raced a few different ba xr6's and few futuras, never lost one, all left by 1-1.5 car lengths from stand still to 140+ and rolling from 100 a few times.
I am certain a el xr6 manual will better my car and thus against a auto ba, the difference will by laughable. BTW the comparison is fair between e series xr and ba falcon as there is no difference in engines from falcon to xr in the ba range. Finally from experience i think the standard falcons go better then the xr6's in the ba's anyway |

ba diff ratio is 3.23... Another reason why the el will win is that the power figures aren't as far apart as paper figures show. In actual fact an el xr6 puts out a little over 170kw in standard form, the 164kw claim by ford was to keep the car less powerful then the standard v8 of the time.
knowing this it means there is approx 10kw between the two cars, with the el being 200kg lighter and having closer gears and again losing less power to the wheels then an auto |
