Default No Ute or Wagon for VE ??

A guy at work told me today that he read somewhere that Holden has pulled the pin on releasing a Ute and Wagon version of the VE.

Apparantly the dwindling sales of larger cars and obviously wagons/utes, and the fact that they are built on the longer wheelbase platform means that there is not much return on investment for Holden.

In hearing this it goes against what Ford is doing by releasing both Wagon and Utility versions of the up coming Orion.

Has anyone else heard this ?

Can't say much but I'm fairly sure there is tooling for the ute and wagon.

Well, I can tell you for a fact that VE utes are being built as we speak, so there is little to no chance that they'd be scrapped at this stage.

Definately VE utes and wagons coming, they can only be a matter of weeks before release??

I was going to wait for one but am told the **** end will be the same as VZ, no liner and still the old conventional floor, for me that is cheap and nasty compared to the Ford setup so i bought another Ford ute.

Don't get confused, they do look similar to the VZ ute, but they are not the same at all. They have a tray liner, different tail lights, the number plate is located in the middle of the tailgate ala Maloo. But it is a ute, what changes could you really expect?! lol.

VE will have the ute, not sure bout the wagon.
Ford will have the ute, but the wagon may be dropped.

They would be crazy not to make the utes (Ford or Holden). Heaps of people drive utes for both work needs and home needs.

Ford and Holden sell more utes than wagons now dont they? Definately the ute before the wagon...

Holden have already confermed that the VE ute will be exported to the US as a Pontatic G8 sports utility.
Ute will happen! As for wagon? Sounds like Ford may drop the wagon in favour of the Terrtory, holden might do the same with the Captiva. In my mind dropping wagons would be a bad idea.

Personally, I see the ute is to Aussies what the big trucks are to Americans. Any aussie automaker would be nuts to not make a ute. Its part of australian motoring.

If there's no real market for it than it'll be a waste of money.

Wouldnt a ute with the flared guards look a little dodgy?

The wagon won't be dropped, but there's no talk of an Orion wagon either. Probably keep building BF2's.

Cant wait to see the new ve ute and the new ford ute!

After seeing the two i will make my decision, all i hope is that Ford doesnt have a 2 piece tray like they have now and blend it in with the cab similar to the holdens!

There will be an orion wagon, but it will retain most of the BF architecture.

I think they will just keep building the BF2 as it mostly only sells to fleets anyway.

Heres a chop from HoldenMan on the LS1 site. It was based of the spy shot and the two panel pressings that have been photographed. The colour is called crunch at it is speculated that it maybe the Hero colour for the VE Utue release (samples have been seen around). Most agree the chop is pretty close although the rear taillights are not right and their is some debate whether the rear try may be a couple of inches longer, but in the main this is what the SS VE Ute will look like.
