May be a stupid question to some but I'm curious...
I've got the edit in my AU. Is it possible for me to lend my flash box to someone else so that they can have a tune done? The reason I'm asking is because we were hoping to get the edit done in Marks XR8 before the AFF Drag Day but funds are tight and his car keeping breaking LOL. My idea was for him to take my flasher box, take it to someone and use it to have a (temporary) tune put in for that day. Is that possible to do? If it is, what happens to my car and my tune? Krissy.

The flash tuners are vin locked to your vehicle, you would need to flash your car back to stock, have a tuner unlock it and reload new tunes for the second vehicle. To reuse on your vehicle your tuner would have to reload it back with your tunes, remember this can only be done 5 times (I think).
I'm pretty sure thats how it all works.

You can do this, you have to rest your car back to its factory tune before the unit can be used on another car.

I see. So basically, it's not really a big hassle. Except for the part where mine would have to go back to factory tune. Hmmmmm that could be an issue for my car.
Thanks for the replies guys.

The box will have to be reset for new VIN so you lose a life + cost of reset. Then when you tune the other car and finish with the box and want to return it to yours, it will lose its custom tunes, and will have to be returned to factory tune, and then have it reset to your VIn again, so more cost + lose another life, then retune yours lol, way too much hassles, cheaper to buy a flash tuner box and do it from scratch. |

When you decide to reuse the flash tuner on your vehicle the tuner who did your original custom tunes should be able to just reload them as I believe they hold them on their PC, and you shouldn't require a new custom tune.

Krissy,
I admire your commitment to your bloke, but I wouldn't do it for the potential issues you may have afterwards. Whatever you guys decide, all the best with it. GK

I think what they are trying to see if they can use the 1 box to flash both cars at the same time, unfortunatly SCT dont want people to do this as that means they wont buy many boxes!!!

I actually thought it wouldn't be too much hassle but Philstoj is right. Really, it would be. Back and forth, unlocking, tuning, locking, unlocking, unloading, reloading LOL.
