i rekon it'll sound like an ed without a tailpipe. honestly, as mentioned, it'll sound crap/ i've heard one.
unless ofcourse you've got a nice, lumpy cam |

1. Illegal
2. Sounds good when done to a Windsor! (despite being a nono). I don't know how it would sound with a six, stock or otherwise. 3. 7 kids? Top work! |

i had it done to my meteor (1982) once (not by choice), it gave it a bit more of a beefy sound.... you'll just have to try it out

If you want a good sound and with bit more performance get a cat back sports exhaust they go for about $300-400 installed.(assuming its a six)

hahahaha
I had a mate with an XG ute and it sounded nicer with the tail pipe off but he also had a large cam in it. If they are lumpy they sound great

i took my tailpipe off for a week cos it was melting my rear bar and it really didnt sound too much different, just a bit airy and raspy. not worth the bother just go buy a 250 dollar mandrel bent one.

And, with a full exhaust system having no tail pipe, it sounds like a loud truck..... I had a mate who did this to his windsor....... it was his idea of an experiment!!! |

Here's a windsor with no pipe-work. You work out how long it would take for you to get a headache if you drove around with it like that:
Extractors only - (http://users.tpg.com.au/hodakz/XR8_Extractors_Only.mp3)

MADNC_8's (windsor) setup sounds mad as! Then again he's got extractors, high-flow cats, x-pipe, twim glasspack mufflers, dumpers at the ends of the mufflers...
I suppose doing it to a stock windsor exhaust would sound pretty nonsexual. |

haha yes, as dave mentioned, my car sounds friggin tough, i only had the tails removed as the exhaust was hitting the diff, and i want to put ultralows in, so i needed to make some clearance..
its a bit loud and rather droney on the freeway though i'll eventually be getting the tails replaced, but it suprised me as to how good it sounds, as he said, ive got a pair of extractors, pair highflow cats twin 2.25" system with X pipe, hotdogs and mufflers... with a pair of angled dump tips..(see my build thread for pics) leaving it as is for now, bit i'll get sick of it soon and get new tails made |
